Hi, Am not sure if this should be posted here, but with the avent of the new line of Tiger models out, and coming out, by Dragon, AFV Club, etc. I thought this may be a good place to put it.
Just picked up a book yesterday at one of the local books stores entitled "Tiger I on the Western Front " by Jean Restayn. Great book just full of photos, and a couple or so in color no less, of Tigers that were used in Africa, Italy, and NW Europe by the different combat groups.
And every page or so an an artists drawing in color of one or more of the tanks shown in the photos. What is interesting is in the back of the book is a smal section on "IX-Kompanie Hummel". Now this small outfit came into existence in the late winter of '44 and used vehicles that had early model turrets with late made chassis. So it would be interesting to take some of the new initial and early model turrets off of the Dragon kits out now and put them on the late production Tigers this comany is talking about coming out here before too long for another version of this vehicle.
If you are a Tiger fan, esp. since the advent of the new state-of-the-art Tiger models just coming out, it might be worth if to pick up one of these books for reference if you happen to run across it.
Take care, Sgirty

girty, Yes Restayn's books are full of nice pics and his own color renditions of Tiger I's. The companion book to "Tiger I on The Western Front", "Tiger I On The Eastern Front" is every bit as nice and they are both very affordable. He also has a third book due out anytime now, "Inside The Tiger I" which I would think would be a nice refference also.
As for Kompanie Hummel, the pics in the book and others shown elsewhere show some of their Tiger I's with early turrets, but I haven't seen any with the initial turret from the Dragon kit.
Cheers,
Mike
