Since everyone seems to like my prior post, I figured that this would be a perfect opportunity for a group build.
The Models are cheap, fairly easy to bui;d, and we could all check each other's progress against our own.
My suggestions are:
M4A1
Panther A
HMMWV
Any suggestions?

I have got a ton of other models to work on right now, but if they happen to have a Panther A at the local model store........ well, maybe, just maybe...........

The post I mentioned was the sale at modelexpo. They were selling panthers for 8.00, and shermans for 6.00.
From the amount of posts, many people took advantage of the sale, and I thought it might be a nice idea.

I still owe a F4D-1 Skyray for Penny's Group Aircraft Build - but I think I'll be done by the end of the month.
I'm game for either the HMMWV or the Sherman M4A1 - I like 'em both. I don't have the Italeri Panther A - but I do have the DML Panther A, would that count ? :-) If not - then I vote for either of the other two.

It's the post about "deeper discounts on italeri at modelexpo." In the general modelling forum.
In fact, I think you posted on that subject.
Or Maybe you're just messing with me.

Well, maybe we need to make a few rules......I'm up for anything, but here are my thoughts.
Gunny, I consider you a professional, and can always learn from you, but I need several years to catch up.
Let's keep it simple, and cheap. Maybe keep it OOB
Stress basic and some advanced techniques, I'm a PE rookie.
This might be an opportunity for some to write up a feature.
I'm open for any and all suggestions, Lets keep it fun though.,
Your comments are appreciated

Something cheap, like a HMMWV (any of the Italeri ones) straight OOB. The M1036 TOW or M998 Commando are great OOB and made with doors shut.

Nice idea John! Just have to clarify though: do we build exactly the same model? This sounds like fun and if I can find the chosen kit then I'm in! Believe it or not, Italeri is more expensive than Academy in this part of the world. #:-)

I'm game if we do the M4A1 OOB. I've been thinking of trying a Sherman ever since I saw Kencelot's winter Sherman and Gunnie's great one and an OOB is just what I need after that super-detailing project from hell that I just completed.

Looking good for the sherman, and the Hummer. Any more takers?
It's also looking like the OOB idea is gaining popularity
For 6 bucks, I don't think you can go wrong........
Let me know.....I think everyone should be getting their orders from modelexpo in soon.

I vote for a Hummer, OOB. Maybe leave the choice of which version to the modeler. I think I would do a Commando or Avenger if we go that route.

Jim,
Could you maybe put a poll up like you have on the main page for which Italeri kit to do an OOB group build on?
These are the choices:
Panther A
M4A1 Sherman
Hummer

Guys, I'm game.
As a matter of fact, I already have the Avenger Hummer in my current stash. I have the other two Hummers at the shop and I was going to use one of them to repair the chassis of an Acadamy Hummer.

My Firends--do well with the Hummer project. Let me know when you wish to engage the M4A1 Sherman OOB.

Well, I just finished a M4A1.
I have the DML Panther D, and don't want the Italeri kit.
And I don't built modern armor.
Hmph. Perhaps I'll observe!
I can add some tips for building the Italeri Sherman OOB with a few tweaks (no pe, just plastic strip, wire etc.).

Question........
How many of us have more than one model going at the same time?
SH*T, I have 4 right now.
My suggestion is that we try for both the M4A1 AND the HMMWV....OOB
That way we can incorporate those who prefer one or the other.....This is supposed to be fun guys.....I myself am gonna do both.
NEENER NEENER NEENER, SO THERE..... #:-)

If it's straight OOB, I will go with the Hummer. If I can add a little (an aluminum turned barrel) I will do the M4A1.

I'm game for the M4A1! If we go OOB, can we add our own AM from home-made stuffs? I think it would be a good idea for those wishing to learn how to add that little bit of detail w/o having to shell out more $$.
