Mary, I think the zombies have came out great. I wish you would have gotten your barrel rolling figures in time for the contest this weekend, even your other zombies would have been nice :-) Excellent work, huney!!! Cheers Kevin

I would just like to say thanks for all the comments of everyone that took the time to leave their remarks. For those of you that were hoping for an April Fools joke...sorry to disappoint. This is the actual diorama as intended. In fact, if mailing problems and mixed up orders had not occured..their would be a few more zombies added along with a couple of extra germans.
I had fun with this, and it was not my intention to release it on April Fools day, but , i am kinda glad it worked out that way.
The Zombies are made by Graven Images, and i got them from Northstar. they have tons of 1/48th figures of this nature. Here is a link for those intrested.

As far as the ground litter goes. I used a combination of some spaghetti kitchen spice. Cutting the pieces finely to get the right look, some deerfoot moss, crushed to make it more scale, Hudson and Allen forest litter, and a little bit of lichen, chopped fine just for some color effect. I blended this together well until i was happy with the color.
The trees were fairly simple. I found this cinnamon broom in a local Dollar General store. It is intended to be used to hang in your home. Its made completely out of various sized bare branches. I picked through it until i found the right combination that made pretty good trees for scale.
As i said before..i want to really thank everyone that took the time to have a look and give me their thoughts..

Hail Mary:
I really got a kick outa' your work w/ the diorama and the zombies. Very creative! And also the quote at the bottom of your post from the recent Chili Palmer movie I saw a couple of weeks ago is clever. So you're a Cornhusker and I'm a Jayhawk who spent too many "middle years" in Miami, Florida — thus the moniker, "the Miami Jayhawk". Just wanted to send a note of encouragement, Mary. So few modelers I know — here in the heartland at least — have the creative urge or guts to venture into something that requires some imagination in the modeling hobby. Laymen call it "thinking outside the box" currently. I believe in "the interconnectedness of all things" and thus if a person trys different avenues, experiments in different ways of doing things, that experience teaches valuable lessons, even for a modeler. My meaning here, re our hobby: What I learn from painting figures with oils, has and will continue to help me do a better job of building armor and aircraft models using oil washes, and oil paints straight on the armor or aircraft model. Good luck to you with this wonderful hobby!
