Here are some pictures of my latest diorama that i have been working on. The premise of the dio is..this is a makeshift german supply camp. Late fall...Germans are going about their buisness discussing which way is the best way to take supplys to where they need to go...Little do they know...that lurking among the trees is a ghoulish surprise that is coming to pay them a visit...
As of yet ..i dont really have a name for this one..and i will get some better pics as everything is finialized..
Let me know what you think

Is that zombie really part of the dio or is it just some crazy thing you did until it's done??

Lol to be honest, I don't like the zombie idea, I hope it's just a temporary thing. I must say you've done a good job on the figures, they look good
Btw, how the hell did you find yourself 1:48 zombies ?!?! :-)

The diorama looks great, and so do the models. Great job!

Mary, love the dio, still need a few after work imbibables tho to make any comments on Boris Karloff. If you really want to do a horror WWII dio read a book by Paul F. Wilson called THE KEEP. It's about a group of German soldiers occupying a Rumanian castle that accidentally awaken a [ take a wild guess ] Vampire. It's actually a good read with tons of modeling potential, anyway if it's an an April Fools thingie it's great if not than I'll have to keep drinking and look at it later. Aw hell I think it's a great build anyway. - Cheyenne

Hi Mary

I sure hope this isn't an April fools joke, because I really like the idea behind the diorama.
It certainly is refreshing to look at!! The leaves on the ground look very realistic

Maybe you should add a little foliage to the trees, because I think the zombies would haven be spotted from too far.

It's a hard one finding a suitable name for it though.

Having my imagination running overtime now, maybe the story behind this dio can be that the supply depot is based on an abandonned battlefield from WW1. You could give the zombies a more blueish uniform, scratchbuild some french helmets on their heads and call it " Payback ... Verdun 1942 ",

I love the idea, please tell me if you scratchbuild the zombies or if you bought them somewhere.

Mary,

I love the idea,I think its neat.. kinda funny that I found this day. as I am currently an extra in a Zombie movie being filmed in waco Tx as well as the military advisor for the shoot too... I'll have to print out a photo of the whole dio so the producer an director can see it.. I am sure they would love it also

Hey Mary...

I think that is an awesome idea! Maybe name it "Ressurection" like the Wolfenstein 3d Total Conversion called "Spear Resurrection"

A sarcastic title could be "Red Wine ahead !!".
I know the idea is not 1st Aprils fool, and how much u searched to get the right zombies, u have worked nice on their paitning and i like a lot the result. The whole atmosphere of the woods and the area is scarey and it achieves the goal. Nice thought to make it like this. Sometimes we have to turn a bit from the standard way of dioraming to see something fresh. I think Mary's idea - though she is new to modelling - serves good this ourpose.
I wish u end it soon mary and we see some more closeups of the zombies

Mary

This is an interesting dio---one that really held my attention as I went through your pics. The concept is certainly unique. The scene is kind of cool as (just like in the movies)--no one "alive" sees the zombies coming until its way too late to escape Its certainly a different slant from what we normally see around here, and because of that, and the fact that the modeling is well done, its a fun dio.

The one thing that strikes me about the scene is the natural look of the trees and tree littered ground cover. Have you used "actual" twigs and leaves to accomplish this look, or is the scenery from hobby items?

The lean to shed and boxes/barrel look good, as does your modeling on the vehicles.

Cool

Nice little dio, very well done and, as a Romero/King fan, I like the idea. No real comments except the guy sitting withthe oficer seems to have at least one zombie in his line of sight.
As to related rading, a few years ago, I read a novel whose premise was that the allies used a werewolf as an undercover agent. Now, you guys thinking it's April Fools time, Mary's having some fun and pulled off her idea quite nicely.

Its a great idea, a little creepy, but very entertaining. Mary you've done a great job here with the whole scene, the chill of late fall comes to my mind, add this to chilling idea of zombies and the scene comes to life(..er I mean death).
You might want a little more subdued light , reduce the sunlight look to it ," make More creepy "

can't wait for updates

Well seeing as I am in an online gaming clan called Walking Dead Army , I think its frickin awesome.I love the tanker zombie.
I remember an old comic series in 2000AD called Fiends of the Eastern Front where a Romanian army unit were attached to a German unit all the Romanians were of course Vampires , this reminded me of that story.
Nice job on the groundwork of the dio as well as a great twist subject wise.
