here is an Eastern Express 1/35 scale Gaz AAA 6 wheeler. The kit was kindly given to me by Grumpy Old Man (Dave).

I found the kit fitted reasonably well but the tyres are rubber and let the kit down badly. Decals were too fragile for this old man to use so were left off.

all comments and nit picks welcomed.

Great GAZ! Look's very good to me!
A co-modeller here at my "weekly-diner-table-modellers-meeting" build the GAZ ambulance from Eastern Express and had very with the cab.
Looks like the same cab, so how did you manage? Did it fit allright?
Decals perhaps as AM product? Verlinden has some nice russian decalssets!

Paul

The cab was a reasonable fit. A little filler and I do mean little was used on the cowl joints but as I said earlier the fit was not bad at all.

I also have the Gaz AA 4 wheeler here to do so it will be interesting to see how that goes. I did not know they made a Gaz ambulance so I guess I may try to get it one day.

Decals were terrible so if I was to do a few more Russian subjects I would go for AM wheels and decals. But it was a fun build between scratch builds.

hi Big brother,
It looks awesome as always .Honestly I like your home made cargo compartment covers more than OOB ones but you made a very good weathering there.
another one to display in museum
congrats

Cliff, you have always been saying that painting your models is your weakest point, but you nailed this right on the head, you got the wash perfect, you couldn't of went no lighter, or darker to bring everything out so nicely, all the details are brought out the way they should, and nobody could ask for any better, there is no better, at least I haven't seen them, this is just as good as the best.

The only trouble I see, and you already mentioned it is the tires, now I do think they could be a little less shinny, but nothing wrong with the truck.

HEY GUYS - Cliff built a truck from a kit! Looks good though mate. I've built a few of these kind of kits and some have a good fit, and others from the same company are warped and short moulded - guess that's down to the operator not the mould.
Just keep 'em coming Cliff, like the others here I love to see your work.

Way to go Brother Roo. You did the kit justice. I really like the looks of this. Did you make the Canvas cover over the Bed or is it the kit supplied one? I can feel in my old bones that our Roo will be casting some new tires for this one. I can visualize this one being sold as surplus after the war and is carrying big kegs of stout to all the thirsty Mates down under.

the kit was built OOB no adjustments were made at all. This is a Russian copy (under licence) of the 1928/29 Ford Model AA truck.

Kit is by Eastern Express and is the 'Gaz AAA'. Not sure in your part of the world where to get one from.

It is the kit supplied one Dave.

I did think of it and still might! but not for a while yet while I sort out some other wee problems first.

thanks for the comments guys I appreciate it as it is a long time since I did a 'strictly' OOB build and this is my first Russian truck.

ARMO (jadar) from Poland produces resin tires for ZIS and GAZ truck series.

Are you going to dirty the kit more ?

Roo modeling Soviet trucks? I can't believe it! Well, now I gotta model a CMP truck... that is when I'm done with all my Soviet tucks. It is looking great Cliff.

If you need any reference materials for your other Soviet trucks, I will be glad to provide them to you.

I buy Armo / Jadar products from 2 sources :
- blast-models in France.
- Jadar shop directly in Poland.

Both are great shops !
