Honestly now - how many unbuilt kits do you have?

Wow, I must be hurting...lol! I just started back into modeling after a 12-year layoff and have exactly zero unbuilt kits besides the Panzer IV I'm working on. Maybe the wife will start getting the hint and buying me some. If anyone wants to call her and give her idea's I'll give you my number...lol! :-)

Hi folks!
I did some pictures of my hobbyroom and the kits
a few years ago for Tamiya News. I do not know where my originals are. But I will go downstairs and take some pics.
The solution of "bypassing" the kits physically is
not a problem. We are living in a flat, but I have a hobbyroom in the cellar. That means I can get my stuff from the garage directly to the shelter..
I also restore some boxes frequently, for camoflague reasons.
But I also have a certain quantity of kits which surpass the "official" way, as "she" is aware I can't make it without buying stuff.
The more difficult problem is the financial one.
We have a combined account and I have to take care which amount per month can "vanish".
I also print out the accounts-report with the credit card invoice whenever possible and throw themn away immediately.
I know this is not right and fair and I have reduced this madness quite a lot.
to be honest, a few years ago "she" discovered
2 creditcardbills, 1000,. -$ in total and she was close to throw me out and get to divorce.

Since then I concentrate more on that what I have already, than always purchasing new stuff.
As a compromise and compensation for all my failures "she" could buy a new cat
(Maine Coon) for 600.-$ last october.

That was a big benefit to being an officer in the Army and marrying after I had settled into the "career-mode". As a single lieutenant that was always in the field, I got paid more than I could spend (nothing to buy in a forest in Germany or desert in Asia). Before direct deposit, I used to have 2 or 3 paychecks (twice a month paydays) uncashed before I could get to the bank.

When I got married, my wife came with 3 kids and no money. I handle all the bills and she spends more on her things than I do on mine. I still make enough to support 5 kids and both of our hobbies.

I guess having a degree in Banking and Finance helps too.

You've got to be building one while the paint dries on another!

OK guys, after reading this I had to get up and count the boxes. 73 either unbuilt or started, 12 boxes assorted figures, 8 boxes individual track links, (mostly Pz III/IV) and a cork bulletin board with photoetch tacked up. Not as may of some of ya'll, but enough to keep me busy. ANd with the show coming up, I'm sure to add to the stash.

Well, I only have 3 models unbuilt, but not bad for just starting back up just before Christmas. I am mainly spendig my hobby money on paints/tools so I don't have to cut corners when building the kits. when I am ready to restock my models, I will make a post in the proper thread asking if someone wants to sell some of the ones they probably will never get to.

I am sitting at 110 unbuilts but expecting a couple more packages in the mail....running out of shelf space but cannot stop buying them when I see a good deal. My problem is what to do with them after they have been built, anyone ever selll their completed kits on e-bay....I have been kicking around this idea for sometime now

I've just counted and I've got 13 unbuilt, less than I guessed. 2 armor, 2 auto, 1 plane, an Aliens warrior and 7 Star Wars kits. Actually the Alien warrior is my brother's, but he's in college, so I'm trying to convince him he'll never have the time to build it...

At last count it was under 190. All but 3 collected in the last year. I know I shouldn't say this, but there are very few kits I am looking for. There are a few new realeases I am waiting for. And, other than the Tamiya jeep and the M577, I usualy don't but more than one of a specific kit.

Always at least one fewer than I want whenever I'm in a hobby store.
