You cant expect to get somthing just because it has it on the box art. :-) It got me a couple times. You have to read on the box it says what it includes.

Due to the limitations and difficulties involved, it is not the easiest thing in the world for a manufacturer to add Zimm to a kit... Therefore you'll have to add your own. There are several feature articles here on site in doing it.
Also, AFV Club, have just released a useful little tool set whic consists of rollers to give you a nice finish. everyone who has used it, swears by it....
Harrison, if you are going to respond to a post, by another user, try being a little better-mannered....Jim

The zimmerit on panthers could vary quite a bit,so Dragon gives you the pleasure of doing it yourself in the pattern that fits the actual tank you are modelling ...aren't they nice to think of things like that...
There are some easy patterns that you can do yourself or there are a few different patterns done by Attack models espesially for this kit.

Ha ha welcome to the real world of modeling. No kit ever comes with zimmerit apart from a few small scale kits and the old italeri panther.I Suggest you use some sort of paste or some type of after market zimm.
Cavalier makes the best zimmerit, its paper thinn and it sure looks good.
or you can try Atak here a link.

That Tiger looks good. I have a Panther G early and a Tiger 1 late here with cavalier zimmerit in the queue for building. Is there anything special we should know about using it?

Quite easy to apply realy.its says to use epoxy glue but i had none so i used thinned down super glue.its well the best zimmerit iv used.the mirage stuff is too thick so this is the best bet.am quite lucky as the cavalier zimm was made for the Tamiya Tiger kit number 35146,but i managed to put it on my AFV club kit :-) .i have three more packs of the stuff left :-)
cheers karl.

I must stop replying to this post :-)
if its the photo etch zimmerit, please dont use this stuff, you have been warned.its a waste of money.am not knocking Eduard they make the best etch brass parts like grills and such but there zimm is a nightmere. It dont matter how much primer you put on it but after you have finished all your base coat it will scratch off in some areas and leave a gold look to the scratches.same goes with verlindens zimm.sorry to put you off.
cheers karl

Hey Karl,
You say you thinned down the super glue. What did you use to do that?
I use Zap-A-Gap, which is quite thick.
Also, did you use an accelerator to make the super glue set up faster?
Thanks,
Joe

Karl,
Thanks. Don't use Tamiya thinner. Is there any thing you can suggest as a substitute?

I used the cavalier zimm on my Henschel KT. I also used the thick Zap-A-Gap superglue. I choose it because I figured (rightly so) that I would need a bit of time to wiggle the pieces of zimmerit into exactly where I wanted them. I too will swear by this stuff. I have a photo of my KT in my gallery if you want to check it out. Cavalier makes kit specific, but a trim here and there will fit another brand, or you can just buy a "generic" piece and cut the desig yourself which is what I'm doing with my Porsche turret KT.

Have to agree with Karl. A friend of mines used etched zimmerit for a ferdinand, and when it was in place ... not even painted, he pulled it off. Its a bit too fine and too perfect. Have also heard the problems with paint scratching off the peaks, revealling shiny areas.
My firend bought attak zimmerit and it turned out beautifully. I have cavalier zimmerit at home for my Tamiya Tiger late, and it looks excellent. cant wait to do it. Would recommend both of these companies.

Steve,
Very nice looking KT. Also enjoyed the Soviet tank in parade colors among others.
Did you thin the thick super glue? Do you sand the surface of the tank and back of the zimmerit? Do you apply the super glue just to the outside edge of the zimmerit or the entire sheet?
You say, you're using a generic sheet for the Porsche KT and I have the Porsche KT and the Cavalier set. Rather funny.

Jim Rae,
If you click on "my profile", there is a link to a review of Cavalier Zimmeritt for the Tamiya Stug III Ausf G. that I did a while back. That may give you an additional impression of their product. It was absolutely great to work with and I haven't had any problems with it.

For anyone who persists in using brass zimmerit, there is a model railroad product called 'Blacken-it', may be other brand names as well. It's for darkening brass castings and machined parts, such as wheels, etc. which shouldn't really be brass. You soak your metal pieces in this solution and it turns the surface black. and it does not rub off, At least if the paint does it won't leave a brassy spot peeping through.

Similar thing happened to me a long time ago. Rented this video with Raquel Welch on the cover, but she never showed up in my living room.
Hate when that happens.
