Well, I picked up a pair of these Saturday, and all things considered, I'm okay with them. These are panographs off the maquettes used to make their 1/35 scale figures, and are a mixed lot from across time. The oldest are some of the troops first seen leaping out of their SdKfz 251/1 Hanomag kit, a selection from their old heavy machine gun troops set (though disappointingly not including the collapsing MG34/42 tripod mount) and some of their newest tankers. Where the sets shine is in the generous accessories sprues with a wide range of headwear, gear, and weapons both early and late war. A little exopy putty sculting some more wrinkles to the clothes will do wonders for these old soldiers, and rather than waiting I'm going to jump right into some SS camo smocks.

The upcoming Americans lokk VERY sharp, and hopefully they'll issue their nice Russian tank riders set in quarter scale.

Shon, we'd be delighted to see a full review of these figures on the site. If you want to consider it, just submit it thru the Reviews section...Jim

At last I've found the box art for the US Infantry figs. Not surprisingly, they're based on the US Assault set, with the winter figures from the Shermans.

Here's hoping for a Cromwell, British Infantry on patrol and French stuff to go with the Citroen.

There's also a 'visualization' of the M10 as well... Re. the Citreon, expect it as a German Staff car... I'm getting the feeling that they are doing this very seriously indeed..Jim

Is it me or are those 'cloth covered' helmets on the accessory sprues look sort of off - they seem too small and do not seem to have complete lower brims.

Fortunately they give you enough M35 helmets for all the figures, plus a couple forage caps, but it would have been nice to have all those extra helmets.

I find painting 1/35 scale figures hard :-) got no chance then with 1/48 scale.

I get the distinct feeling that the subject under discussion is 1/48th scale. Am I missing something here?..Jim

David -

Exacty - I have some of these kits (thx HLJ) and those alternate helmets seem somehow odd.

Fallschirmjägers did use cloth covers on their M38 airborne helmets, and perhaps the alternate helments could be used to represent those? I do not think that Fallschirmjägers ever wore the standard army pattern uniforms though.

Perhaps it is a standard accessory sprue that might be used on future figure releases?

There is quite a mxture of early/late weapons so I would guess that Rob is right - they will probably use this as a 'generic' set for all future (German) figure sets. However if they do bring out a set of German paras, they'll have to change them somewhat...Jim
