I am posting this for Jim or anyone that can tell. I was looking thru the general modeling forum and horror of horrors I think we have been invaded by a spam bot!!!
There it was before me advertising for dell computers and a link to a reseller. This reminds me of yahoo pool. Say it isnt so!!! here is the link.

Anyone know what is up with this? Cheers Kevin

Hmm, I was wondering why that post was in the 'General Modeling Forum' and not in 'Miscellaneous' where (if it were real) it would belong.

Upon further investigation, i.e. checking 'his' profile, this was discovered:

And wouldn't ya know it--no photographs of kits, nor this 'wonderful' Dell system, in his gallery.

Kevin--are you saying there are programs out there that can create a profile and a posting at sites that host the same? Or is this the work of a nefarious individual out to promote his product?

Bad Form either way!

Not putting things past bots on the net these day..but..i feel like this would of had to be a person just because of the registration process. Like you said..still bad form..we get enough of those kinds of ads in our junk mail anyway..LOL

Great job by everyone reacting to this "thing" and deleting it. That is one the things I love about this place. Everyone here does such a great job keeping this site focused and "unpoluted".

Ack...I just realized I need a "Topic not found" error message when a topic has been deleted. Currently it seems to be going into a bad loop.

And I don't think this was a "spam-bot", more a case of an industrious Dell affiliate (spammer).

Jim
