Ardennes Matt.

Most of the fighting around the Ardennes region was in winter, so snow, pine trees, frozen creeks, stuff like that.
If you searched the gallery here at armorama, or ran a google search, there are plenty of photo's of both dioramas and the real area.

Cheers

Try this link....

Example images from that link:

Hope this is of any help

Oh and remember.....at the start of the Ardennes Offensive there wasn't any snow already. Snow followed later in the offensive. This means you don't HAVE to use snow, a non-snow diorama is just as realistic. Make sure there is enough mud though :-)

Another good reference is the Bastogne episode in Band of Brothers. Hell, that whole series is full of inspiration.

Martinnn's images are very good examples of the Ardennes terrrain, just replace the snow with mud. Autumn 1944 was very wet...

Guys,

great pictures you came up with. I always love the ardennes houses...like the English cottages always a special style.

To avoid copyright issues, please add the reference links to the pictures. A good example is the link in Martin's reply. When we add the link and/or a copyright note, we can avoid running into these nasty copyright issues that are causing pain on some other sites.
