LOL,

I'm probably get in trouble for this... I'd say guess who this quote is by? But given the post's title, I think you can all guess...

"I've basically "jumped ship" from another modeller site where I've done book and kit reviews and was essentially the sites' mentor/answer guy for beginner modellers' questions."

Gosh darnit... I didn't realise we lost such a valuable member...

There was more but it's "typical Tom"...

PM me for the link if anyone can be bothered to read the rest of the garbage that spewed forth...

A while back I was looking for a HE-111 (monogram kit) for AGE2 Campaign, Tom pm'd me and said he could get one. Comes back later and said it would be nearly fifty bucks for it! The kit was 26 dollars, and twenty bucks extra for what??????? Shipping?

Needless to say I bought one somewhere else.

He must have done a lot of damage behind the scenes because I really didn't see anything that bad in the threads.

That's because the moderators kept an eye on him and either deleted or edited any inflammatory remarks.

Sean I have never heard of anyone ever getting the boot because it is a very loose and tolerant bunch of jokers who hang out here. I can't say I've ever been attacked by said user but I totally trust the people who run this place.

Back to business, you should start a thread in the introductions forum. you'll get more well wishes than the middle of a thread about someone else

Welcome, Irish!
Don't judge this site by this thread, these guys are the most talented modelers on the planet!
Tom was, I'm sure, a very good modeler. And if you asked him, he'd tell you no-one compares.
He wasn't nice, though.
He probably isn't the only one, yet, we all try to get along to advance the talents of the others.
99.9% of the people here want YOU to be a better modeler and will share with you the tricks and techniques that made them better modelers.
We also want to know what makes you a good modeler and that, in turn, helps us be better modelers.

Look around at some other threads. See what we have to offer before dismissing this awesome site and it's amazing members.

I am afraid that will be "Plonky's" one and only post as it was merely Tom in disguise using computer at the University of Baton Rouge. My apologies to potential model makers there but he just nix'd your access for a while. I hope Tom gets tired of this kind of juvenille game quickly as I can just keep killing accounts and banning IP addresses till the cows come home.

Mooo....

If it's too good to be true, it probably is.

Sticking up for a guy that he doesn't know, on his first post. Always fishy.

Good catch Jim!

Did he do anything right?

He seems to have gotten at least one thing right.

Sorry but after that move, I couldn't help myself.

And the award for most genuine example of what this site is about... Cuhail! But seriously, when I read the post from Plonky and then the post from Staff Jim, I laughed my rear end right off! I really do appreciate the childish behavior Tom is exhibiting though... it only exemplifies the high level of maturity and restraint the members of Armorama have.

Wow Jim I'm impressed. I've been on sites where people have gotten banned, thankfully much more commonly than on Armorama, where the banned folks just made a new account and went right back to their old ways. It normally took several weeks to be discovered and they did every bit as much damage in that time as they did before getting banned. I've never seen anybody get caught after only one post.

I know it's easy to say but after reading his post I had serious doubts about how genuine they were. Signed on, registered, and replied to such a post all on the same day? Sounded just a little suspicious.

I do think though we should heed some of the posts saying this is more activity than he ever deserved and go back to modeling. Now, where did the tweezers launch that part to?

Jim, I just have to say that I'm very impressed, it wasn't even an hour between 'Plonky's first post and you saying that he was banned. Very well done!

Ciao all,
Jim, you really did catch that one fast!! Yes, I guess that he is being a pain. I read the post and saw T Terrific 2. I thought, "gosh, this has to be Tom." Besides, the tone of the post was odd for a first time user. Again, Jim, you are the guy!! Question - How do we renew our A Guard membership?
Ciao for now
Rob
