I'm thinking of obtaining a copy of Revell's Unimog (in 1/35th), yet wish to make it an Australian example. Are there any suggestions to converting it to one of ours? I know I'm going to have to swap the driving side (left to right hand drive), but is there anyone out there who has done it, or can offer tips?
Cheers,
Linz

G'day champ, I can help you with your mog issue.
I’m a driver-transport in the Royal Australian Corps of Transport, so I was pretty harsh on my Aussie conversion.
The First thing I did to my kit was change the dashboard. As there is no conversion kit out there (that I know of) I had to cut up the dash in the kit. This was pretty easy. Other things that I did to the cab were change the seats. The driver seat is a single seat; there is a gap where the gear stick, fwd/reverse leaver and PTO are located. Then there are the passenger seats. I also placed F-88 Austeyr rifles beside the seats (there is rifle racks located there in the real thing). Other objects I included were a fire extinisher next to the drivers side seat, seat belts and a jack (under the passenger seat).
The roof needed to be changed as well, but this was straight forward. I covered the original copula and cut a new one on the right hand side, same with the copula hatch.
Most of the kit is the same as the Australian version. I had to make a brush guard and head light covers from scratch. A kick plate had to be added also. The kick plate covers the bottom of the engine. It starts from the bumper bar and ends at the front axle.
Other add-ons for the Australian kit were a tool rack located at the right rear just behind the wheal. Also a jerry can rack in the same position, but on the driver’s side.
For the markings, I made my own stencils out of masking tape. Although there are not many markings on Aussie mogs anyway.
I hope this broad list helps you. If you have anymore questions on the Unimog, just drop me a line and I will get back to you.

I'm still working on a SAS (mythical version) Mog. I bought wheels from Accurate Armour in the MR models section, they were a bugger too if I remember.

I am working on one as well, still in the planning stages actually. Here is a good site that covers the differences between the European version (Revell Model) and the Aussie version.

Actually, if you are into Australian subjects in general this is a great site. And if you need some additional pictures drop me a line. I have collected quite a few off the net.

You might want to check the date on Linz's post. It is from OCT '02. Also, he hasn't been on the site in over 4 years. Good luck hearing back from him.
Hope his turned out nice, good luck on yours.
