Hi,
I don't have too many opinions on the layout change, doesn't affect me too much. What I would really like to see on the site is improved searching. Searching now doesn't really seem to work at all. I searched the site for the word retarder, to find info on acrylic drying retarders and got only one hit.

Jim, as always you're doing a great job. If we seem a little "whiney" it's only because this site is our home away from home to so many of us. We look on it as OUR site, as much as it is yours. I know I asked about the search function, and site layout, in two other threads, one of which got deleted by mistake, but the one was because I thought I might have found a glitch, the other because I wasn't sure I liked the new way. Like I said in that thread I'm an old fart and I get set in my ways. I've been using it now for a couple days and I just have to train my mouse hand to automatically go up instead of to the left.
It's still a great looking site, and the very best modeling site on the web.
One suggestion. The search feature seems to be of major concern to many people. Perhaps somebody could write an feature on how best to use Google, or another search engine, to search for information here? I submitted one a while back that was never posted, and frankly that might be because the powers that be felt I didn't know by bum from a hole in the ground. Maybe somebody who knows how to get a search engine really put out can write one?

Nucks,
Point taken. The old search yields 48 results (some are duplicate topics though). Of course in any cached system you have to wait for the search engine to cache the page. Your "retarder" topic was only posted in the past few days. Try that search again in a few days and it may come up.

On the left side, all I have is a black bar with a "Visit Our Sponsors" title & a blurb about advertising a little way down.
Should I be seeing ads here ??

John,
Are you using some kind of ad-blocker or if not what browser are you using. The ads aren't even using Javascript (like the rotating banner ad at the top). Do you see that banner or the text ads above the forum?
Thanks,
Jim

Jim: I'm running WinXP Prof, up-to-date, which means IE6.x. I have IE Pop-Up Blocker running, but Armorama is listed as an OK site (ie, allow pop-ups). I'm also running Norton Internet Security with a pop-up block, but again, Armorama is specifically allowed.
I do see the Text Advertisements (3 of 'em) but am not sure what the rotating banner -- I don't see one rotating on it's own, but if I click on something it changes (right now it looks like a Roman Legionnaire).
I don't have any other problems here, just this one ....
John
