Any guesses as to what's next from Tamiya?

it's rumored Tamiya plans to release a flood of 1/35 kits within a short period of time to medicate the wimpers so many builders in that scale are suffering.

Well I fail to see wheree that particular rumor came from. Wishful thinking perhaps? I'll be more than happy to see them continuing with 1/48th scale and leave 1/35th to those competent to produce them - AFV Club and Dragon....Jim

how about a modern tank transporter..a MACK or SCAMMEL..with big desert tyres and stuff. or IDF MBTs. that is on a 1/35 scale.

There is still the M10 and M4A1 release date to be announced. There are also the rumours about a Panther and a Mk IV to come, presumably within this year. However, as this is a 1/48 scale discussion site, let us not forget SkyBow in our postings. Expect to reviews, comments and photos of their Tigers soon. And, of course, there is still their Firefly to look forward to.

My contacts tell me that Tamiya is not going to release any new 1/35 scale softskin kits, and by new I mean NEW and not rehashed old stuff in new boxes, in the near future at all. I think the same may apply to the other main makers as well although I believe Italeri are going to re-release their old Hard cab GMC kit later this year but I will believe it when I see them sitting on the shelves ready for sale.

An Opel Blitz, a Jeep and a GMC would be nice. But what I really want is a HUMVEE !!!!

Sorry I couldn't resist

Cheers,

As I always tend to say in these threads, let's put the things into some kind of perspective...

Tamiya, is doing a good job with its 1/48th release list, apart from the determination of the usual 'suspects' to belittle and criticize. Tamiya should be encouraged - they are gambling strongly on this new range...

Tamiya, lost interest in 1/35th a year or two ago, they will, however, continue 're-issuing' and bringing out (perhaps)one new armor kit a year which, everything indicates, will be a modern MBT.

Therefore, as I said before and repeat here, it is of little sense to endlessly speculate as to what they (or aren't) bringing out - in 1/35th, only two companies will have any kind of impact, AFV and DML..Jim

All of those would be excellent to see in 48th, it's true, and Tamiya would do a great job on them.

Speculation as to what might be forthcoming is a normal pastime in this hobby. Tamiya hasn't followed the norm in this new quarterscale game, however. How many of us guessed the French automobile ? Perhaps they'll continue to surprise us with an artillery piece or two. I only know I'm delighted with their venture into 1/48th, and will welcome anything they market.
