Finaly made some more progress with my ADV Azimut Panzerwerfer 42.
Apart from the launcher the kit is just about together, as soon as the interior is painted and weathered I can put the super structure top on, and the filler can come out. I think I'll better get an extra pack of milliput as some extensive filling will be neccesary... . The kit is going together well, but the large resin castings for the hull and hull top have some serious fit issues... . The rocket launcher tubes are going to need some major filling to fit them in the frame, but that should not be to big a problem. The MB (indi) tracks are coming together aswel, good fit and very little cleaning up required. Only problem seems to be that the resin wheels are a tad to thick and don't fit nicely in the guide horns of the tracks, but I'll sand those to fit aswel, and it should not show when it's all finished.



The interior with the first wash. It will be made a lot dirtier... Not sure if I will add any more detail to the cabin, I might add the radio, and the map and document holders, but as the will be invisible when the hull is complete I won't go to great lenght to scratch them.

Henk it looks to be coming together very nicely. I am looking forward to seeing your progress here as I am very intrigued by this kit. I have built the italeri sws with the panzerwerfer42 but this seems to be the better kit. Kevin

Hi Kevin, I don't know the Italeri kits of the maultier etc firsthand, but from what I hear they go together well, if not to exciting, as Italeri usualy do. This Kit is all resin and PE, apart from the suspesion and axles, which are plastic, possibly Italeri but I,m not sure. The rubberband tracks are not to bad if you are going to put it up to its axles in mud :-) . I'm replacing them with the MB indy links which I got through Gunny. They are great, if a bit fiddely to work with.

No prices for guessing which is which...

Looking good so far Henk.
In my opinion, the Panzerwerfer 42, is by far the coolest halftrack ever.
I have the Italeri version. Haven't build it yet. The content of the box looks pretty good.

Hawkeye, thanks, I think it's a great kit, of a nice odd machine but I think it OOP now. Italeri ones are regularly on Ebay though..

Jesper, I must admit that I was sold on this one when I saw the picture on the box, I was lucky with the bidding on Ebay, and got a reasonable bargain.

I have finished the interior, and the top is going on... Have a last look, as almost non will be visible later on..
I'll start with the filler tommorow..

Hi Chad, no, the tracks are glued together, and although a little bit flexible, not workable. This pic shows the top and doors etc in place, ready for the filler.. the track on the left is the rubber band from the kit, used for a comparison picture.

Ahhh, what colorscheme... I'm not yet sure to be honest, I really want to do a Dunkelgelb with spots ( I have some good reference pic's for that), but I know I could do a good vignette in a winter camo..But I don't want to do another winter camo at the moment, but I just happen to have the right figures for it...
and winter camo looks good, no two ways about it..

Henk, sense Italeri give an engine for theirs, did that company give an engine for theirs to. I did notice the way better tracks you got, but they do look like a job.

Now if I ever get to mine, sense I can't find anything for under the hood, I'm going to ab-lib, and just put things the way I think they should be, cause who is to say I'm wrong.

Nobody every did show us any under the hood, so they can prove me wrong when I do it.

No, the casting for the bottom hull is solid, so no hope of opening up the engine bay. I think you would be o.k. if you just add the engine as it is on the Opel Maultier.
The tracks are fiddely, but wel worth the work.

I finished with the filler, I have a growing respect for those who can sculpt with milliput.. .
I have now started with the launcher sub assembly, which is quite involved, all turned brass tubes and PE to be fitted togeter, all tubes need to be sanded as they are ever so slightly to big to fit in the frames...still, it makes for a tight fit. There will be some resin junction boxes at the sides, and it will be topped off with the ignition wiring. This is definately the most involved and detailed part of the kit and should look the dogs doodaas when finished...

I'll be in our office for two nights tommorow and the night after, so as long as I don't get interupted, I hope to get this about done by the weekend....

Hi Robert, I'm not brave, just a fool..:-) I finished the tubes and started with the ignition and retaining hooks. I'm afraid that my camera isn't focusing close enough to show off the bolt detail on the retainer hooks, but this should give you all an Idea what it looks like.

Hi guys, I find myself staring at the multi barrel launcher, rather than getting on with the tracks.. . I've done one side, and halfway done with the other. I have run out of Cyano... so work on the barrels has to wait untill tommorow.. .
I am now deeply devided, looking at the barrel assembly, all shiny and beautiful, I don't really want to put any paint on it.. I'm tempted to put it on th shelf on it's own..well, almost. On second thought, I think I'll just have to build more ships. :-) :-) .
I'll get some pic's up when I get home. I'm at work now, one of the nights that I stay behind in the office to cover the phone..and spend most night modeling, unless I have to go out for an emergency.

I got going nicely with the ignition wires etc, when I run out of glue... Rule no. 1...always carry a spare. (battery, filmroll/memory card, etc...) Still, this is how far I got tonight.

I have finished the Barrel assembly, the wiring and retainer hooks are done, I've dryfitted it for the photo, as I'll have to paint it before final assembly. So that's almost it, all thats left now are some fittings and linkages which will be added once the barrels are mounted.





So paint is next, I'll probably get going with that on wednesday, as I'm in the office again, so I should have all night to get stuck in :-) .
