OK, here is the 2nd installment for my Ic hybrid. It was base painted with a mix of Tamiya paint that I found on the "Quartermasters Depot" site. I think I may have used a bit too much green (for a look at the original color check my last post) so I toned it down with a couple of burnt umber filters. It also has a coat of Tamiya clear on it. I'm waiting on some markings I ordered from Archer before I do anything else, hence the clean look. This one will be part of a club Sherman display at the IPMS Nationals in July, so once the markings are on, it will get the details painted, a light dusting overall, and for now no crew stowage (so the differences between the various versions will be plain to see). I haven't corrected a couple of the things pointed out to me in the last post, ie. the armored periscope cover and periscope brush guards on the front hatches, but once the show is over I have further plans for this one and will take care of them at that time. On to the pics, all comments welcome, and thanks for looking.
Cheers,
Mike

I really like what im seeing here. I did notice that there is some paint missing in the spots where all the tools are in the 3rd pic. But thats about it, looking forward to seeing this finish. So please post somemore photos!

Great looking Firefly What hull did you use for this? Also you may want to see about glueing the tracks down on to the support rollers
Also, were the "U" shaped towing clevises used on the late 1 piece trannsmision? Usually they didn't But never say never with the Shermans
Please keep us posted on this Firefly

Thanks guys.
Harrison what you are actually seeing there is where the filter I applied pooled a little and left a bit more residue than other places. With the naked eye you can hardly see it, but I need to hit it with a brush dampened with some brush cleaner and that should take care of it.
Chad the upper hull is from CMD mated to a Dragon lower hull. If you're interested in the build you can take a look at my original post here: Firefly Ic hybrid before paint
The tracks are not the ones I plan on having on the "final" version. These are just for the show display. Even if they were I would probably leave them the way they are, as most wartime pics I have, the tracks appear to "float" just above the return rollers and skids. Also apparently the Brits used the "U" shaped tow clevis's a little more often, as once again I have pics of this.
Cheers,
Mike

It's very, very good! It's very well painted and built! In which scenario are you going to put it on? It looks marvellous! Congratulations!
Cheers and happy modelling!

Thank you Prato, the plans right now are to dirty it up a little, then it's going in a club Sherman display at the IPMS USA Nationals in a few weeks. After that is over I plan on giving it a very worn and tattered winter white-wash based on a couple of pics I have.

Mike,
I LOVE it. really good paint so far. Nice clean finish makes it easier when its time to weather. All the fittings look good. One ? Isn't the barrel masking to make it look like the 75mm supposed to be black ?

Thanks Todd, I appreciate the compliments. As for the barrel, the Hayward Firefly book says the countershading was done in white, with the top portion in a darker color, maybe black, or possibly the original khaki drab. After studying the pics I have, I chose to keep it in the original color.
Cheers,
Mike

Looks really nice so far. I think that the green is still a little off. You may want to try a cad yellow filter insted of the brown, this should bring it a little more olive in color. Just a thought. Dont forget to post finished pics.

Thanks Jim, I do appreciate it, but RYCERZ-I is a welded hull Ic, mine is a hybrid hull. I plan on marking mine as a tank from the British 8th Armoured Brigade.

Thanks John, actually in person the green is not that bright, but I've also been thinking about the same thing. Though I have a tube of cad yellow, I was thinking more along the lines of a yellow ochre filter, that might do the trick. But I think I'll wait and see how she looks after the base weathering.

Mike
