I have some sheets of clear styrene about seven years old complete with minor scratch marks and dust from the storage. How can I polish the styrene to get rid of the scratches? Is this possible or should I buy a new sheet?
I want my clear styrene to represent a glass door.
Thanks.

Have you tried the "future" method. Cut them to size and dip each peice in some future for a few hours (maybe over night). Make sure each peice is not flat on the bottom of the container, (resting against the side). Then the trick is to get them dry before dust settles on them.
This should remove any minor scatches as well as make the styrene appear thinner.

Bruce

Hey Pete the best way I found to polish clear styrene is by using 3M hand glaze. Most auto parts stores will supply it. To use, dab some on a cotton t and rub either side to side or up and down, never in a circle motion. I tell you this stuff works great. Also it can be used to polish gloss paint. I paid $11.95 for a 32oz. bottle. Hope this helps.

I'll try the 3M method because trying to prevent dust from settling on the plastic is close to "Mission Impossible." Thanks!
