:-) :-) With 24 done 2 on deck and 29 left to build, you'll need all 55 to take on a platoon of Tiger tanks :-) :-)

Gotta be the Panzer III for me - performed well in the Battle of France, the Desert and early stages of Russia.

Well I like a lot of german tanks.

1) I really love the Marder 3 M
2) Panther
3) Hornisse nashron, an ugly tank but it have something..

Respect for all german builders (and other builders too )

hi guys,

tigers and panther are nice, but there arent any nicer tanks than panzer IV with schurtz(or however you spell it) and stugs III and IV. (lates). algo jagdpanther is very very nice..in the practical idea, i guess hetzer were nice too.

though in my real opinion all german tanks were awesome..

I would definately vote for the tank produced in the largest number during the war: The StuG III.

Low profile, powerful gun, enough engine power to make it quite mobile, and low production cost made it in my eyes the best German tank of the war.

If we define "tank" as being a tracked armoured vehicle with a rotating turret, & discount assault guns & tank destroyers, it has to be the Panther, no contest. In fact it was probably the best medium tank of the war from any nationality (there that should get everyone going!). I'd have to specify a later version (G) to address the early reliability/engine fire problems!
Now the reasons. First German tank with proper ballistic shape (sloped armour), very good power/rate ratio, good compromise of armour/firepower/speed. The L70 gun was at least as good a tank-killer as the L56 88mm in the Tiger, ask Barkmann & others!
Why not the Tiger? Well it was really just a knee-jerk reaction to the heavy Russian types, a crude box shaped thing. The Tiger II looks more like a big Panther anyway, & is too big & heavy. The Panther still looks "modern" 50 years later.
The T34 runs it very close, but loses out due to poor internal arrangement & general crudeness.
And finally, yes I know the Germans lost, but that has nothing to do with individual equipments. The best is seldom the most popular.

Ide Have to say the Panzer IV.Even though the Panther's and Tiger's were late and great, the IV was the most versitil chassi. Like the sherman sure the other late US tanks were more powerful but overall the sheman was the best US tank!

I know it sounds odd.
But my favourite is the stug III. I really like the shape of it.

The Tiger One was the best well know Tank, Probably the best of the Germans had to offer, But as the time grew it was taken over by other Tanks. Tiger I in my opinion, But it was very hard to maintain, Say a drive sproket broke, They had to do serious maintance work.

But yet again theres the PZ IV, in my opinion the best tank.

But guys cant forget. The tank is only as good as the commander.
