All,
Nothing wrong with the server. This time (and I am partly guessing) there was a problem with the Firewall for the server. It had to be reset. We have had a lot of weird activity from China and the Netherlands lately for both email and login hacking attempts. It may be that the firewall automatically shut access off to prevent further attacks.

Hopefully this will not happen again any time soon.

Thanks for your patience.

Site was on and off yesterday evening and finally went out this morning. What ever it was, was scary . Thought maybe it was the NASTY weather in the Atlanta area.

glad things are back up but this site seems to go down alot more now, i think this is hte fourth time in as many months. Don't remember it being this bad in the past.

James,
Actually the site is far more stable and has far better uptime than in the first year and a half of operation. As for the past 4 months I only remember one other time the server was down for any extended time period.

However I am greatly disappointed in our hosting reseller in the UK. I submitted a ticket for a problem with the servers primary IP address (not Armorama's) and then the problem stopped. He reponded to the ticket and didn't even notice that the service had completely shut-down again. Not cool.

Thanks,
Jim

Hackers and scamers are the scum of the earth...... malicious malcontents that should be stepped on like cockroaches......

Well just my personal thoughts about them.......
Nice to have the site and email back...... :-) :-) :-)
Hope everyone who celibrates the 4th of July enjoys themselves, and stays safe. As usual, I'll be working overtime this week end. So check in's' will be short and inbetween shifts.

I tried before I went to work, and again at lunch time when I finished for the day, every 15 minutes since. At least I got some painting time on my second 'Mini-Magic' entry!

maybe you should switch to ProBoards mate i can put in a good word for you and get you a very good price my friend :-) :-) :-)

cheers,

James

I know you are joking but just for fun I looked up ProBoards' Alexa and hosting situation. We do WAY more bandwidth than them (since we have about the exact same Alexa rank and forums are typically low on bandwidth), and our server is equal to theirs. I am talking about their primary site of course. Not the myriad of other sites they host on other servers. I actually wonder if their "forum" servers are anywhere near as nice as ours. Probably wimpy single-processor 2.0 Celerons. :-)

ProBoards, Network54, DiscServer... I expect them to all be gone in a few years anyways. Poorly run for "professional" businesses.

Cheers,
Jim

Actually Big Brother 6? is starting here in the US. My wife and I generally watch as there is nothing much on in the summer anyways.

LOL! Even with Armorama down (I actually missed the problem) - things can never be THAT bad! :-)

All the best

So, seems I'm not the only one who finds "Trasport" a bit irritating?

Trasport?

Yes, "trasport" istead of "transport". Whe you post, the brief message that pops up says it will trasport you back. I remember metioig it log ago that it was missig the "n".

Glad to have the site back up.... to me it seems the site is very stable and when it does go down it is an item of note...

better than some sites where its an item of note if they stay up............ ( something that was more of a prob in the very early days of he WWW)
