I finished an old Tamiya Pink Panther a few months ago. I put it back in the box when I finished because I had no idea what color pink the thing should be. Any suggestions?

Hello !

That's funny, I'm exactly at the same point with that model !
I already posted a topic about the model several months ago, so if you search the armor forum with "pink panther" you should be able to find it.
From what I've read, many shades of pink could be found, even a nearly purple pink. Once, I saw a picture where even the sides of the tires were painted !
Personaly, I'll be using the most simple solution : humbrol pink (it's gloss, so it'll need a flat coat afterwards).

Thanks for the help. Up until I got this kit, the only pink I'd ever used was on my crewmen's piping. I still don't know why the Germans chose pink for that!

:-) Hi PLMP110
The SAS Pink Panther was the first kit I built, when I came back to modelling a million years ago and it is the only kit I've hand painted (drifting away on a cloud of nostalgia), oops sorry getting carried away. I'm sure that there was a formula for the pink in, I think, Military Modelling. I will see if I can dig it out. Don't hold your breath though, I haven't built a target for a long time and although I know I've got the mag, I don't know where. I'll be back.

Hi Patrick, I used a humbrol colour on a bradley once, it was supposed to be desert yellow but it came out a pinky yellow. One of my modelling mates said this was the S.A.S. colour. The humbrol reference No is Matt 250. Hope this may be of assistance.

Thanks guys,

I think I'll try the Humbrol route and see how that turns out.

Thanks for the info. I have one that I plan on painting but was looking for the proper pink to paint it.
