didn't notice any troop seats in the pic, and the talha has troop seats.

There are troop seats in the photo with the serviceman. They are stowed in the upright position. You can even make out seat belts hanging below the edge of the green folded up.
Perhaps they provided those APCs for use in theather instead of providing troops?

The last link in Paul's post shows the exterior of the vehicle. Are the firing ports and periscope aperetures blanked off?

I browsed around the "Webshots" site but I am not a member. I thought maybe there would be an easy to shoot the guy in the photo an email and just ask him. I am fairly certain he would be flattered.
Anyone a registered Webshots member?

The guy refers to the AAV7A1 as a tank. Doubtful he would know the difference between obscure foreign variants of M113 cousins. He might know whether or not it was from a particular country or not.

Yeah, Rob, I noticed that too in the gallery. My thought was if his "apc bed" was still attached to his unti he could get a pic of the outside.
Probably a long shot, though. For all we know the guy may have rotated back the States some time ago.
Just brainstorming...

EDIT: Last update was 07.08.05 so he is still in country...

I've had the same idea (I'm a registered Webshots member...) unfortunately I have not found any e-mail adress to get in touch with him. Let's hope he or another soldier who knows him will come across this thread ....Who knows ?.....
