Here is a project I am going to do for my US/World History Classroom. I have 8 Windows that are 4X6'. The lower windowsill is at about student Eye level - (approximately 5 1/2' from the floor). I am going to construct a PROFILE Diorama of a WWI Trench and a bit of No-Mans-Land. The Dio will include a original sculpture of a Doughboy ready to go "Over the Top".

Here is a rough sketch I made up:

I am posting this in both the Diorama and Figure Forum, because I want you all to adopt my class and help me with your ideas, comments and critics.

For any of you who have seen the old John Wayne Movie, "the Three Godfathers"... You have all become Uncles (and Aunties for you Ladies).

So all help would be appreciated. Please send me any research, websites, pictures or Info you might have on
1. WWI Trenches,
2. Trench Warfare and
3. US Doughboys...

Thanks,

John

PS: for any of you out of room on the shelves and OVERLOADED With Models, diorama or figures...

Consider contacting your local High School or Middle School, and ask the History Teachers if they would like them for room or Lecture display. No money in it, but you can clean out your old stuff, give the teachers and students some inspiration as they study and encourage some young people to get into or keep modeling all with one shot...

One teacher I know has a complete collection of WWII Airplanes fighters to Bomber hanging from his class ceiling... all donated.

Sorry I can't help with your project, I build mostly modern (2nd half of 20th Cent., Korean war to present).

Hope you get plenty of replies and support though.

You may have already found this site, but it is evidently a class project, but has some good links.

Look here for the site. Good luck with your project.

I'm not able to give any help on that specific topic, but I just have to say that I appreciate your work and hope it will turn out in the way you anticipated. I think its a great idea to donate models to schools.

Good luck with your projectb

Here's a coiple pictures of the uniform and equipment I own.The first aid pouch (the little pocket on the right side) is an incorrect type and should have two button instead of one. Please take a good look at the puttees (the leg wraps) I hate to see model puttees because they always look too thick Try making it out of foil or some other thin material. Hope it is of use.

Excellent. Thanks!

The look like simple clothing or canvas material...

Definitely helpful!
