Got to side with Gunnie on this one, every stinking time I say to myself "this one is out-of-the-box only" I add just one little extra thing...then another...and another...I need help. Can't seem to do it yet. I have the new Tamiya Marder III M, it is real nice, so I will try again.....

I can spit out a small German Panzer in about a week or two if built right OOB with very little detailing. Anything that I have some type of reference for, then it may take 6 months!
1/72 scale goes quicker than 1/35 for obvious reasons.

Well it depends if my children let me build
My modeling hour is when they sleep, and sometimes I´m so tired or hooked in the computer surfin´ around Armorama.com that my modeling time vary great.
But I´ve built a totally OOB Spitfire 1/72 in a month......but my Italeri Panzer IV ausf G is going to 4 months now! (but it´s due to my fear to handle with indi track links :-) ). I gonna finish it in the next month, for sure!
Cheers

Lemme see here... average build time for a model...
When'd the A/C group build start? That was this year right?... Hmm... If I'm 80% done now...
Seriously, I could build a model in a week if I waned to. If I want to be truly happy with it, it takes much much longer. (3 months?) :-)

Personally, I take my time on every model I do. Usually between 1-2 months.....and I only work 3 days a week ( I love my job). But I guess it depends on what I am doing at the time. I did a sturmgeschultz in about 2 weeks and I took my sweet time with the Tamiya m60 reactive. going on 2 1/2 months. so I guess it varies.

If I would apply myself, I could probably finish one in about 24-30 hours. That would be a 1/35th scale armor kit OOB.

I don't know that I've finished a model yet. I keep reading and seeing things I need to add. I'll grab one and add to it...

Calendar time it takes OOTB kits three weeks or so. That's wooking on in only about an hour a day. That's about all the time I get.
If you add detail or dio I'm looking at two months.
Both of those are ONLY Bench time. Research is included in the calendar time but not the hour a day.

For me, anywhere between 25-40 hrs., but that could mean a couple of months, given the time I have for building. I do all my projects OOB, but try to put them in a proper setting for display (more vignette than dio) but the more I learn, the more elaborate things get. I've yet to buy an After Market kit for my projects, although I've thought about metal barrels for my AFV's - I hate trying to get those seam lines out of the plastic ones. But, I'm still fairly new at this hobby, so there's hope for me down the line.

Heh heh... In a sense models are never 'finished' (well, mine anyway!). Everytime I look at my M41, I see things I'd like to add someday... A new tool rack here, stowage items there, dried mud over here...
It's a neverending cycle!

Let's see, I got about 8 or 9 on the go. My longest, the TUA, has been going on for a year. I think the only reason I don't want to finish is because I have so much fun building them.

When I first started armor modeling I could crank one out in just a few evenings, but that has all changed. I can't seem to build OOB anymore. Even if I don't buy PE or other AM items I end up scratch-building a bunch of stuff (the Italeri M4A1 Sherman for the group build is a good example). Now the fastest that I can build a model is about 1 1/2 to 2 months, but more often than not it takes closer to 4 months for me to complete a model.

OOTB it usually takes me about 1 till 3 days
I am a student and I really got too much time so I can build the whole day if I want

Most models I build take about two full evenings. Then it takes 2 months to paint, stowage, etc. and I have to work on some sort of dio to set it in. I like to do a figure or two for each model as well so this would all be included in the 2 months for apinting time. But I have other projects under was as well so I probably do 12 a year set in dios or bases.!

Well for me, I do all my Model OOB. But if I can I like to add and or replace some parts
it I can so that might take a little longer. Or if, Like the case of the Tiger Tank. I had to replace the treads. So with the waiting time included it actually took a month to finish, So actual work time was about 20 hours. HOWEVER the most recent subject being an M-60 Blazer, Only took 10 days and roughly about 15 hours actual work time. So it did not take very long. BUT I have a Leopard 2A5 coming up and I am pretty certain that it will take at least 25 hours for it.. As well will the upcoming M-26 Pershing. So I take my time with my projects. Think things thru. And enjoy the time I spend working on my projects.

I haven't truly finished one yet, but will set something aside to work another project that seems more interesting at the time; also as I amass more research material, I keep seeing more things to do the kits I have built that are waiting for the painting, etc. I probably will spend 12-20 hours on construction if OOTB, with bumps for aquiring AM tracks, detail sets, etc. I don't really care how time a model takes, because I enjoy the building, planning, rebuilding, painting, repainting, dio planning, dio building, dio rebuilding, etc., etc., etc. too much to worry about getting something done...
