Hi all,
Working on my Sherman Crab, and I'm almost going to spray primer on it and start the painting/weathering process.
However before I start I'd like your help on the following. I don't have a clear pic on what the Crab could carry in the stowage racks on the sides of the tank. My tank represents one used during the landings at Westkapelle during operation Infatuate II....
Any ideas?
Martin

There are some shots of 79th Armoured Div Crabs in "British Tanks in Normandy" by Ludovic Fortin. In those, some similar racks are being used to carry spare flail chains.

I'd go with spare flails too. I don't recall seeing fittings like that on any other version of the Sherman.

Spare flail chains were the usual stowage here I believe, but I placed some long boxes there on mine.

Hey nice model by the way. Not many people have posted photos of the "funnies" that were used in the war.
Which maker produced this model or did you scratch build this?

lol I may wish I could scratchbuild that haha
no, it's the Resicast conversion kit.
Nice kit, except you need to replace the flails and it's not an easy kit to build! Also the instructions are only usable as toilet paper....you can't use them for your model
But well.....once you know how to build it it's a very cool kit! I can recommend it!

I really like the way you did the chips / bumps on the tips of your main hull. Im assuming you used rock salt of some kind and painted over it to get the desired effect?
