Hey guys- I've just discovered I have a problem.
I have a Verlinden resin Sherman Firefly turret which I am in the process of mating to a TWS Hybid M4 hull.
Now the problem I have is that I don't appear to have a commander's hatch that will fit the ring on the turret, despite having several sherman turrets available. They are all just a bit too wide.
So I guess my question is has anybody out there used this turret, and if so, what did you use for the commander's hatch?
I've tried Tamiya (the 'new' M4 Early) and Dragon.
Hope the answer is out there...

You might be stuck with just having to grind down the features near the hatch and using either the DML or Tamiya hatch. Shouldnt be too hard to build up the lip again: just superglue a piece of sprue and apply some putty to build it up. That's what I did when I converted Tamiya's M26 Pershing turret, backdating it to a T26E1 turret with a loader's split door hatch.

Thanks for the pics Jim. I think they helped in as much as I made the decision to trim the Tamiya cupola for the Firefly turret, and trim a Dragon one to fix to the Tamiya turret.
I thought hobbies were supposed to be relaxing! :-)

You're very welcome- If you need more, PM or e-mail me, I have the Rossagraph book on modelling the Firefly 1c which is absolutely full of useful details like this. The only difference is that the book concentrates on the Welded rather than the Cast hull which you seem to be building...Jim
