The Cat is finally starting to look like a Tank. The build is mostly finished, Tow cables, tools and smoke dischargers are basically whats left. The paint job is to be finished as well. It runs like a dream, and the project are constantly interrupted by "test drives". I'm not much into RC, but it's a hell of alot of fun driving it around the living room. The sound is just great (Have got the first complaint from my neighbour) and metal tracks make it go really good. Only problems during the build was the tail lights and organizing the wires inside the turret. Will post more pictures when finished.
Cheers
Erik

My god.....now I understand why some people say this is a difficult kit because there is very little space inside the tank once all the electronica is inside :-)
Cool pics my friend!
3 more weeks.....and I'll order my RC Pershing

wow that looks like such a labour of love, putting all that together.
What sort of cost will it run to by the time you're free to Play with your RC tank !?! if it's not a ridiculous amount, you may have tempted me to dabble in the dark art!

Don't. RC tanks are way to expencive compared to what you get, if you are not a hard core RC fan. I saved money for a long time to afford this one. Since I'm not very much into RC it will be driven mostly on request from friends and co-workers. That said, it has been a pleasure building it, and thats the most important thing for me. Right now I'm giving it the final paint job. (And looking forward to open a 1/35 kit again)

This is fun Erik! You know the feeling when you get when you finished a really big model? That's like another big step towards the temple of plastic god.

Well, a short update. The paint job is painstakingly slow due to the seize of the tank. Today I just wanted to show off the tanks working head lights. The A6 got seven different light conditions, in which I have tried one. The system consists of several optical fibers connected to leds inside the hull. In the head lights the fiber is about .5 mm into the lamp to form a bulb. The lamp itself is painted chrome silver. A quiet easy build, but it looks good, or what?
Cheers

Hello Erik,
Great build and interesting notes. I am in the process of doing the Sherman with the Back Yard Armor M4A3E8 conversion kit. I'm also in the process of working on the Tiger 1 E. and I am still in the process of paying off the King Tiger. The Leo is just slightly out of my price range. Once again nice build.

Hi, Bengt
Short answere to your questions: Metal tracks work as a dream. The gun stabilizer is rubbish... unless you change the elevation servo for a stronger type, which I have not done.
