What an honour to compete with the big talent of so many fellow modelers!
Well, here comes the contest-story:

In 1944 a german officer travels home from the western front, dreaming yet of coming home, when he hears his fellows shouting "Tiefflieger", plain attack! Searching for cover, trapped in his compartment, frightened to death, the he notices the shadow and noise of an attacking US-Mustang. The front has followed him to his train compartment, where the dramatic end of his journey is coming nearer ...



It´s only a rough sketch, of course, but I hope it depictures what I mean. I´m thinking to present the dio in a small shadow box, separately iluminating the outside with the attacking planes (presented on a background foto-slide).
So at this moment I´m investigating about 1st class compartments of the german "Reichsbahn" (railroad company), and most of all there is one question: Which figure of a german officer, searching for cover, fits to my plans? Any ideas? And does anyone know a good foto reference for the attacking planes in the background? Hope a little searching-help from my fellows will be allowed ...

That is a great idea !

But I think that you're gonna have a big problem to find a photo of a mustang coming directly to the camera. It tends to be an uncomfortable place for the photographer, most of all in wartime when the mustang is firing it's guns.
But you have another solution ! Why don't you model a 1/144th scale mustang ? Would you be able to fit it all within 4x6 ?

I like the idea very much. The ligtning will be very difficult. As for the Mustang, depends on how handy you are with photo/paintshop! A head on picture would not really be a problem, the only the gunfire will need to be added.
The figure I think will need to be scratch build (which is feasible as can be seen on FAUST's project).

I've read quite some ideas lately, but I must admit, this is a superb idea. It's unique for it's originality !!

Hope you can build this. I think if you build the way you describe it......you have a fair chance for the awards !!

WOW boys, that´s a great help! Unique pictures, that are very inspiring (Thanks Linz, Thanks FAUST!). I´ll try to copy one of these pictures on a slide and fix it in the background of the shadowbox. Especially the plane in front of the evening sky is spectacular! Great to have the Armorama-modeling-family near!
