Includes cutting-edge, revolutionary new warped hull to increase accuracy! :-)

Very funny... Do you know something that I don't know?

Just a joke ... one of Dragon's latest Tiger kits apparently has a high percentage of kits shipping with a warped lower hull. First Dragon said "mea culpa," but once they found out how many hulls were warped, they claimed that this was done on purpose, as a revolutionary new building technology! :-)

I found that to be very entertaining.

Most people didn't pay attention the his whining.

It really amazes me that people side with the manufacturer on this and choose instead to make snotty comments about the modeler.

Well, it's not relevant to this kit (unless that revolutionary new technology is being applied to the M1 too!) so let's just hope that this kit turns out to be a good one.

Why do people keep requesting models of tanks that we already have a good kit of? First the Leo 2A6, now the Challenger 2.

I didn't choose to side with the manufacturer, I just got tired of hearing about this as he just kept going on and on, and I don't think I'm alone in that regard. I know of at least one other person who also said they had this problem, what did they do?? They built the darn thing, and it looks pretty good too. I have the Dragon late Tiger and I guess I got lucky, as my hull is fine, and I have heard of more people who's hull is fine than those who are warped.

revolutionary new technology

DML never wrote anything about it being "revolutionary new technology", so please don't write things that are not true. They wrote however that once kit is assembled, everything is fine with hull shape. I have checked it myself - I have this DML Tiger kit. Do you?... And I can assure you that I will also check if M1A1 hull parts can be properly assembled before the kit hits the shelves.

Dunno mate, probably the same reason everyone is so excited about yet another Abrams?

Good answer! I think the Tamiya C2 is an excellent kit, and the Trumpeter offerings aren't bad either, but hey if Dragon wants to do one to this level of detail who am I to stop them? Personally I keep hoping for a Merkava Mk 3D in styrene.

Cheers,

Sure, no problem. If you can sponsor a trip to Israel and convince IDF to let me take a few hundreds of photos and measurements of their tank, I will be happy to work with DML to release such kit

Ditto ^^

I got sick of hearing him whine and whine about a percieved problem as well. That was my issue with it.

Dragon should design a new lower hull to replace the ancient design of Tamiyas lower hull.
Then I woluld buy the Dragon lower hull and add the Tamiya upper hull, rearwall and turret to it.
As a gimmick Dragon could include the standard side skirts and the KFOR- style side skirts . Maybe a new dozer-blade, too for the guys who don´t have a Trumpeter kit.

Now back to serious mode: I still think sabout using the Trumpeter lower hull, which has better detail on it (and covered sponsons) than Tamiya for my next C2 project. I would need to scratch build new side skirts as Trumpeters won´t fit the Tamiya upper hull. But Dragon could make my life easier (or Tamiya, when they would go and release the "plain" version- renmember- there´s a sprue missing in the Tamiya kit)

PS: Still waiting for M1IP, M60, Leopard 2A0-4, Chieftain and Centurion

Pawel,

I know that this is probably the wrong way to ask...but to your knowledge (without jeopardizing anyone including yourself) is there or has there been any requests for early shots of the kit for aftermarket producers?

I know it is pretty common for aftermarket producers to obtain "pre-release" copies for putting together update or super detail sets in the Aircraft arena......and I would imagine that this will be a kit with potential aftermarket (i.e.: Interior details) desires.

Thanks

E.T.

Yes, there were such requests. I guess this is typical that such requests are being sent when new kits are in production. But decision if such test shots will be provided to anyone outside of DML design team is not mine, so I don't know if they will get them, or will they have to wait for the first production batch samples.

What are you thinking that would cost? Maybe we could get a nice fundraiser going selling the old M1 kits door to door at an unbelievable $9.99 (without handling charges of course ). As for the IDF, I hear they are a very reasonable bunch, so there shouldn't be too much of a problem there. So, how 'bout it Pawel? Should I start making the calls or would you like to schedule the travel arrangements? :-)
