Hi All - the recent thread regarding movies and modelling has made me think: What a great idea for a campaign!
The idea would be for people to recreate a scene from any movie. There would be no limits to size or modelling category. Anyone would be welcome as it would fit under Dioramas.
As for rules, off the top of my head, I would like to have listed the title of the movie the dio is being recreated from, and at least 3 pictures. I am planning on making this a 9 month run so people have enough time to complete their projects.
Campaign ribbon would most likely be a filmstrip.
I would like you to post here if you are interested in participating.

just another thought on this.... rather than listing the name of the movie, would you want to try to guess which movies the entries are from?

Well Klaus don't tell us your entry. I think GI Babycakes changed it so that the dios are un-named and we have to guess the movie.

Count me in. I can already see the more popular movies pop up on this one.
1) Saving Private Ryan
2) Black Hawk Down
3) We Were Soldiers
4) Hamburger Hill
5) Platoon
6) Full Metal Jacket
All of which i have DVDs on which i will be closely scrutinising for this one.

this a 9 month run
IMHO this is way too long. Experience proves that it is very hard to keep people focussed on the individual campaign. It takes more from a Campaign Leader than only to start one..... he / she has got to keep the enlisted focussed until the end. 9 months is too long to do that. Besides that there is already a diorama Campaign running as we speak... the By the Book Campaign runs until May 30. Since I don't think it's wise to run two Dio Campaigns at the same time, the "movies campaign" would run right into 2007....
A nice idea, but I think some items should be thought over again.
My personal opinion is, that the diorama section needs another campaign like we had the Splash and the Window on War Campaign....short, low threshold to step in, cost limitation, size limitation etc..... the regular stuff that made the previous dio campaigns a hit. We could do this with the "movies campaign" ... just think it over !
From personal experience I can say that it ain't easy to take the roll as Campaign Leader and make it a Campaign to remember..... please be well prepared !

Thanks Eagle I am really excited about this and I think if everyone else is, it will be a great campaign!
Maybe we can start June 1 and have it run 6 months?
Part of my job includes planning/promoting events and parties... plus.. being a girl... I have a hard time letting things go - you know the "beating a dead horse" or "bulldog on a bone" sayings?? that's me. I think I could keep people moving along the course of a campaign.
I dont want to limit anyone to anything. I was hoping this could be as big or as small as anyone wanted to make it. This is a chance for people to really have fun and try new things. If we put caps on everything I think it limits creativity.

Sounds like nag nag nag to me....
9 months may be long but it seems like poeple are always asking for extension. If it is clearly spelled out at 6 months with no extensions then maybe it doesn't have to be 9:)

Oh but it can be this way ! The idea is excellent. Just enter the Campaign in the Campaign HQ as it opens up for 2006, get the required members to join in and you're on the move !
I think it's great to see you so excited about this...this is a wonderful attitude that will come in handy when running the Campaign !
I fully understand your feelings about limitations on creativity and to some point I even fully agree with you...it's just that I've seen some campaigns that just didn't work because they where "too free"...too much "without limits"... Don't want that to happen
And about the period that it runs... well even after 9 months people would ask for an extension ... heck.... you could run it for five years and people would still ask for extensions.... I guess that comes with being human
Good luck pulling this off Captain....something tells me that you have got what it takes to make this a hit (and I really say that from the heart !!)

Just got done watching Evil Dead tankgirl. Found it a little weak but my horror movie buddy swears by it and Army of darkness was good.

i watched Hogan's Heroes too growing up! My dad was a huge fan.
I was waffling on what to call the campaign until Grumpy Old Man posted "Hooray for Hollywood" Isn't that the perfect name for this one??? (Grumpy, I hope you don't mind me using it!)
TV has to do with Hollywood as much as movies do - so as long as the scene is recognizable, I don't see any reason why we couldn't pull from both pools!!
