Hello

This dio was started a year ago (That's wright already one year building it ) I wanted to share my work with you people so you can give a thought and some comment.
The kits included are a koningstiger, schwimmwagen, 8 Fallschirmjaëger, schwimmwagen crew and 10 german infantry soldiers.
The base is nearly half way. I completed 5 out of 10 pine trees. But the problem is the river. The Realistic water from woodland scenics does not dry that well. The river stays dull in a few places. Don't know how to solve that yet.

Let me know what you think.

Greetings Roel

Hello Roel, you have a wonderful diorama started here. I am a big fan of multi height level diorama's and this one looks great so far. I look forward to seeing more progress on this. I would stay away from any of the Woodland Scenics water products. If I were you I would look into some type of clear resin for water. Here is a link to a diorama I did with resin for water
https://armorama.kitmaker.net//features/523
I hope this helps yo u. If you have any questions about resin for water feel free to pm me. Cheers Kevin

Hey Roel,

As you know I've seen this diorama from the start and I think it's very impressive!

I'd make a very muddy road, that's not only realistic but also nice contrast to the white snow landscape.

For now I don't have anything to say, I think you're on the right track!

Roel -

Beautifully done and convincing snow, trees, and groundwork. I've got plans for a King Tiger and wintery "Ardennes" diorama also, but it will have to wait til I get caught up on a couple other projects. Sounds like you've got quite a project ahead for yourself, and I can't wait to see more on this. You've already given me some great ideas to work on, especially those trees. Are they from Bragdon Enterprises or scratch built (my compliments if they are, they're terrific)? The bridge looks like it would be a tight squeeze for the King Tiger. Or is this what your "theme" is based around? What unit are you projecting your King Tiger as? Only the sSS Pz Abt 501st (assigned to 6th SS Pz Army, 1 SS Pz Div which was initially north of Bastogne) and sSS Pz Abt 506 (Armmetruppen AOK 6) in Bastogne area had King Tigers, and 3rd Fallschirmjaeger Div was with the 1 SS. Hope this helps some. Please keep us posted on this diorama,

Wow thats looking really good so far. Cant wait to see the finished product.

I would muddy up the entrance and exit of the bridge to simulate lots of vehicles driven on it. You planning on placing any armor and more figures on to it?

Hello

Thanks for the replies sofar.
I will expalin the whole idea of the diorama.
The kits that will be included:
-Tamiya köningstiger ardennen offensief
-Dragon 3rd Fallschirmjaeger ardennenoffensief part 1
-Dragon 3rd Fallschirmjaeger ardennenoffensief part 2
-Academy german infantry set battle off the bulge1944
-Tamiya German panzer division frontline reconnaissance team
-Tamiya Schwimmwagen type 166
-Dragon 352nd Volksgrenadier Division ardennen 1944

The Tiger will be the number 204 of the 501st Heavy tank Battalion in the spearhead of the kampfgruppe peiper.
The bridge is like someone mentioned to small for the Tiger. That's the idea. The schwimmwagen will head over the bridge and the tiger has to continue the road.
The groundwork for the roads will be really dark muddy.
The snow is made with baby powder. The pine trees are home made You can find how to do on my website . The pictures are not so well but hope that helps.
Hopes this helps sofar.

Greetings

Hey

Went to the store today to buy me some resin. And found it Crystal resin. Hope it turns out better than those woodland products.

@ Jackhammer81 the base where the resin will be poured on is made of a strip woodland scenics realistic water and sand. Is this ok to pour the resin on or not?? Should I change something??

Roel, thats good to hear. I am glad you found it. As for pour resin over the top just make sure all is secure underneath where the resin will go maybe coat it first with some white glue and water mixed 50/50 and you will do fine. The resin can also be tinted with clear colored acrylic paints. add the coloring to the resin before you add the hardener and also dont do to much color only a drop or a few as it colors it very quicky. Good luck ! Kevin

Hello

I am a few steps futher already. The base of the river is finished and ready to be poured with clear resin. Just needs to dry a bit more. I wil post new pics within a few days.

The snow is just simple baby powder. I spray my base with a coat of hairspray. I sprinkle some baby powder and finish with a new coat of hairspray to keep it on it's place.

Greetings

Great job on the dio. Thats a lot of stuff to cram into one dio. Are you using all the figures?
Your website is nice too. Those trees seem so easy to make. The only problem is that I have to go to a flower shop.

Hey guys

It's been a while. But I have new pics of my dio. Bought me some clear resin a time ago and the river is finally finished. Now we can move on to the next step. There is a lot do certainly because I had to remove all trees to pour the river. And some of the groundwork was damaged

Resin just poured

View from the top

After +/-18 hours of drying I made some waves in the resin

What do you think of it??
