This is my project for the week. I started on it last Saturday... and this is where it's at today.

The kit is really, really nice. It builds up very easily. The kit comes with some photoetch... but I just couldn't leave it alone... .

The P/E is from Aber and has also been relatively easy to use.

I hope to finish the construction tonight or tomorrow... so I'll get to paint it this weekend.

Later,
Tim

Hey Chad,
I did use the kit wheels. The best aftermarket replacements are from Ft Dusquesne. They are available here At 12.95 it sure is a deal!

Guys... thanks for the kind words about the model.

I've been working on a bunch of kits lately... and I WILL be painting them all and posting more pictures soon.

The airbrushes will be getting a real work out at the Tankshack spray booth!

Very nice build so far ...Have you thought about what kind of camo you're going to put on your hetzer? I just picked up this kit a few weeks ago and I'm thinking of an ambush scheme for mine ...could be on my list of next kit to build ...Yours is looking good!

Richard,
Thanks!... this project has been a lot of fun.
As far as the paint scheme, most of the Hetzers made in the later '44 time frame received a three color "hard edge" paint job in primer red, dark yellow and green. I plan to do one of those. It should be fun and will let me try out some new techniques.

I'll post more shots as I paint it.

Yes, that is an aluminum barrel. I used the CMK "Hot Barrel" for the Late Model Hetzer.

Great looking build tank, can't wait to see some paint on it. I have to agree with you, the kit is a nice build! I would recommend it to anyone.

do you plan to add some infantry with it or even a tank commander or gunner?
but other then that it will look really nice when you paint it and add some weathering

hey there,
That's a good question... I did not intend to build a dio with this one. But, I have been testing out a crew member figure... perhaps a relaxed pose... taking a smoke break.

I'll post a shot and you can see what I'm thinking.

I have that same kit in the command version waiting for paint and Fruil. track. Your are a brave soul for assembling those tiny little plastic tracks. I took one look at those links and said No Way am I gonna clean up all those. Your Hetzer looks good, I'm anxious to see the camo on it. Are you planning to airbrush or brush paint? I was thinking of brushing since it'll be a hard-edged camo and the tank isn't that large....

Hi Tim

Great job so far!
I can't believe you've built a kit so fast!! Mine take forever!

I have the Hetzer book from MBI. And there was a great article about the Hetzer color schemes on Hyperscale and another on Track-Link. I think the colors are brown, green and a light yellow. Some folks have suggested old Czech paint colors were used, and others have suggested they were a mix of German and Czech colors. If you are talking about the 'Hetzer' color scheme with the big hard-edged blobs of color, I think primer red is not correct. Of course, with late war tanks, and black and white photos, you never know!

The Hetzer has always been a favorite of mine, and your pics are very inspiring! Keep us posted.

Cheers
Andy

Hey Tankshack. Nice model and a very nice build.
The Hetzer is my least favorite armour model of them all. It is so plain and lacking in detail it looks boring to build, but where it loses in the build it probably makes up for in the painting. I think it needs that little bit extra to get a good paint job on as it has plain flat surfaces. Good luck with this project and it will be interesting to see the finished article.
