Hi Gang,

After a time of silence on my website, I placed a new walkaround!!
This time the subject is the British/Canadian Bren Carrier.
Pictures were taken at the War and Resistance Museum in Overloon.

Enjoy, and thanks for your time...

John.

They certainly did use Universal Carriers - Loyd Carriers (with only one 'L') seem mostly to have been used for towing - when they worked. My girlfriend's father (ex-8th Army) hated them!

Allthough the pics are excellent, it's clear to me that this vehicle didn't have this shade of green in '45. I wonder what a more accurate green / olive would have been...

It would have been SCC 15, frequently (and wrongly) called khaki drab.

OK Thanks David !

In fact, over 28,000 were made in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, for Commonwealth forces. They were shipped off to NW Europe for Canadian use, but also all over the world for the rest of the commonwealth.

In addition, several thousand Windsor Carriers (also built in Windsor, go figure) were built for the Commonwealth. The Windsor and Universal were both armoured carriers. The Loyd was an _unarmoured_ tow vehicle, mostly for 6 pdr guns in infantry and anti-tank regiments.
