My SU-85 conversion arrived from Backyard armor. Lots of big pieces of resin and white metal.
The instructions are vague (at best) but it doesn't take a genius to figure out where things go.
Casting is good, with nice textures on the parts. Although there's going to be lots of flat sanding on the inside of the parts (they're cast in an open mold), there's not alot of work to be done on the exterior.
I intend to use the T-34/85 from Trumpeter for this conversion, so I'll have to make some small changes to the tank hull before I start, namely adding an additional fuel drum and removing the smoke canisters. I'm still collecting info on the SU-85 interior, but I'm pretty sure I can come close with the parts included in the T-34/85 kit. Although the guns are different, I'm not going to bother to change the breech or interior, especially since most of it will be out of sight once the casemate is installed.
I'll be "borrowing" the solid roadwheels from Trumpeter's T34/76 Mod 42.
I'll post some pics tonight...
