Sorry, The pics are of poor quality...

Come on, tell me what you think about him ! Do you find the choice of colors / weathering / shading logical ?

Looks nice despite of the poor quality of the pics
You should add a little scratches on top of the helmet and some chipped paint on the edge of it
Keep us updated

Hola PenPen!!

You asked for some suggestions, I will give you some, and keep in mind I'm not critesising, Im giving you the constructive feed back you asked for.

The areas that you have shaded looks like the right places to shade, the problem is the shade of color. If you want an off white uniform do like this:

Mix white, tad of yellow ochre, khaki, and other light browns, even throw in some dark brown, just mix enough color so its off white. The mix I used for my figure is: White + Honeycomb (khaki looking color), + Teddy Bear tan (A lighter brown), + Yellow Ochre and Dark Chocolate Brown. Now you have a "white" that you can highlight (same mixture but with more and more white) and paint shadows that flows in with the base coat (base mix with more dark chocolate added)
The most important thing when painting highlights and shadows is that the basic tone is the same in the base coat - highlights - shadows, so it flows in with each other. It looks to me like you painted the whole figure in white then added the shadows and dirt, which makes the shadows stand out to much and in 'wrong' color.

So paint the figure in off white, then highlight with same mix + more white and shade with more darck chocolate (Ofcourse, All paints can be exchanged for a similar color of another brand)

For the helmet, remember, the white was 95% of the time just a thin wash that was easily scraped off. What you can do with a white helmet like this is to use a oil wash of burnt umber/burnt sienna in different proportions to your liking, and start at the top of the helmet and just let it run down, this will create streaks of a reddish brownish color. Or..you can paint chips of feild gray or dark gray (color of helmet) which will look cool also!

And once again, I am not cutting your work down, just trying to give you some pointers and tips

Thank you guys, this is just the kind of words I was looking for ! That will be the only way for me to get better !

In fact, I painted the uniform off-white and then shaded and highlighted... but my off-white is perhaps a bit too white... and my shades are too yellow i guess...

I didn't say it before, but I painted the whole figure with oils !

Hi Pen pen!

If the figure is done, I think it is to much "orange" weathering, I've never seen a soldier with orange clothes, but this is the first one

I would suggest to repaint the entire uniform and follow Anders suggestion.

Hola Penpen!!

If you are useing oils try a mix like this:

Titanium White, this makes up the majority of the mix
Dab of Yellow Ochre, dab of Burnt Umber and Vandykebrown (or Mars Brown)

Mix this so its a nice dirty off white, then add just a little more Burnt Umber for shadows (very little shadows, not super heavy) and add more Titanium White for highlights, saving the pure white for the "highest" highlights

Hope this helps!!

Thank you gatekeeper !
In fact I'm gonna reapint the figure next week in a slightly "browner" color.
I haven't worked much on the base of the dio yet because I had several other projects to get moving : SAS pink panther, schwimwagen, SDKFZ 123...

Talking about the base for your figure, are you going to do it with snow..? If so have you tried using Alum crystals as a sprinkle of late winter snow?
If you drip spots of PVA adhesive on your normally completed base and then sprinkle Alum onto it when its dried it looks like patches of melting snow, I think it gives a more realistic finish than wall to wall white.
Try your local Drugstore/Chemist and ask for Alum crystals BP.
Also I want to hear about your best snow ideas, incase they are beter than mine... :-)
