I just picked up a Trumpeter 1/35 Swedish S-Tank I think I'll do. I also have a Leopard 2 and an LAV if for some reason the S-tank isn't acceptable.

Alrighty folks! Welcome to the New Year of 2006. According to my watch from this side of the world, its 1st Jan which is the official start date of this campaign!

What this also means is that you are going to have to warm up those air compressors and shake up those paint bottles / tubes cause its time to churn those armored kits out from the factory.

Please do place photos of your progress in the Review forum whenever possible.

Happy new year and long live to this campaign !

My entry will be the M2A2 I've just started mid-december. I hope this "pre-start" will not disqualify it.

Happy modeling

Happy New Years Jeremy

Would you accept the Tamiya T-55,.... or is that a bit too old?

Hi guys,

My kits are in the mail to me as we speak. I'm gonna be doing an M1114 Up- Armored Humvee using the Tamiya kit with Mig Productions M1114 Conversion and Assymetrical Tyres.
Probably wont get started for a couple of weeks as I have a couple of campaigns started already and midterms coming up so don't expect progress until the end of the month.

Regards
Matt

Thanks,
I expect posting some in a couple of days. This afternoon I've detailed the front glacis and completed the side skirts.

I'm soooo weak! I vowed not to overextend myself and enter too many campaigns in 2006 - but - I can't resist this one...

I'm enlisted this morning - I'm gonna model the early M93 Fox NBCRS vehicle from Operation Desert Storm.

Model On!

Hi Frank,

T-55s would be eligible for this campaign seeing as this tank remained on active status all the way to the 1980s during the Iran and Iraq war. Since then the T-55 has also gone through numerous upgrades so it certainly counts as modern.

For more information on the different upgrades on the tank, check out Wikipedia. Perhaps if its at all possible, you can try incorporating some of the upgrades listed. This is of course not mandatory and purely your choice.

The BMP-1 was reinforced with a 33mm frontal armor and was used in the early stages of the Soviet war in Afghanistan. I believe that makes it more than eligible for this campaign. Looks to be a very interesting kit this one. Which maker sells this kit anyway?

Hi Jazza,
I'll be using the Dragon kit that was released a few (quite a few!) years ago, some etch, new barrel, Armour Track Models
road wheels and track and a fair bit if scratch building...
Cheers and thanks

I started the Fujimi Type 90 MBT last night for a quick OOB build. I picked up this kit several years ago in the clearance bin. It came without instructions or decals. I've been able to scrounge up a copy of the instructions, but will have to hit the parts box for decals.

I'm about half way done, and could finish up by the weekend if the weather holds for my painting.

Well, seeing as I started my Tamiya M1A2 OIF yesterday, how can I not join this one. This is my first attempt at modern armor and was really surprised at the size of this machine compared to my usual German WW II subjects.

Just a quick early reminder guys to place your completed photos of your kits into the Modern Armored Subjects Gallery folder.

We've already got some progress shots in there which is great so those of you who have already started and have photos of it, do place it in there.

Judging by what people are building....we are going to have a strong force of Challengers and Bradleys.

Go the Yanks and the Brits i say!

Hi guys,

Just found out that my stuff for my M1114 will not be in until the end of the month. A little later than I had hoped, but I'll still be able to get it done, even with a late start.

I've started Tamiya's T-55A in Polish Service. So far I've done most of lower hull (wheels are still in pieces waiting for painting), and most of subasseblies of upper hull. Tomorrow I'll start the turret.
On weekend I'll try to find some time to post some progress pics.
