About 5 years ago, I worked at Dugway Proving Grounds in Utah as a wildlife biologist. The field vehicles we used were issued to us by the base and after we destroyed every civilian Jeep and pickup they had they gave us a monstrous (well at least way bigger than we needed) military truck. The cab was a Chevy (I believe) Silverado or the next size up of early nineties vintage. But on the back was a giant box with a single door on the rear and several compartments on the sides. The box was about a foot taller than the cab and the inside was full of shelves and lockers with enough room for maybe a small desk. I assume it was a comm. or command vehicle, but I haven't been able to find any pics of one.
If anyone can help me in my search that would be great.
Cheers

It sounds like you may have been issued a CUCV with a Shelter on the rear. It was basicly the Chevy pick up.
CUCV stands for Commericial Utility Combat Vehicle, also known as the CUTV Combat Utility Vehicle. Both terms were used interchangebly when I was in.
Hope this helps!

Did it look anything like this?
Or did it look something like this?
Or this?
The first is a CUCV Generation I, the second is a CUCV Gen II, and the third is the LSSV (Light Service Support Vehicle)
