To me, a WW II German Armor fanatic, the answer to the question what's wrong with Modern? is simple. Not a darn thing. I'm just glad that I am part of a great hobby. I love looking at a well built Tiger I Late as much as I love looking at a well built M1A1. I just prefer building the former as much as others prefer building the later.
Cheers,
Willie

Also modern does not sell in the far east.
Its the same old thing, manufacturers will only produce kits of subjects that sell(or they perceive will sell)
I have to disagree with the statement that modern subject not being so popular in the Far East. It is probably a generalized statement but I used to live in South Korea and also know many Taiwanese modelers, and modern subjects are very popular over there in Korea and Taiwan. Maybe it is not as popular in Japan.
The manufacturers' fetish with German WWII subjects still remains a mystery. It is like female fetish with shoes...

Instead of attacking people with the rediculous statements like the one you made, show some proof as to why you claim my statement is rediculous.
Agreed. Being constructive would be far more helpful...

Primarily I build WW2 (German and Russian) although, saying that, I really would welcome a chance to build an Abrams which DOESN'T require 2-3 kilos of PE and resin to correct it. In other words, i'm waiting with bated breath DML's new Abrams. The same holds true with the Bradley - I would like 2-3 Bradleys which I could build OOB and know that they are accurate.
I do tend to go where my reference material takes me. That said, I can imagine building at least another 7-8 KVs. I could also be tempted with a Stryker or the new Lav-25 - again, with modern, (at least at the moment ) the same conditions apply - accurate kit, minimum of add-ons...Jim

The comet was designed as a result of the continued up armouring and up-gunning of British WW2 cruiser tanks.
Cromwell turret ring wasnt able to take 17-pdr, and lacked armour to deal with German heavy tanks.
Compact version of 17-pdr designed and fitted to what was essentially an enlarged and up armoured cromwell hull.
It was of course influenced by the fact tigers and panthers had thicker armour, but it certainly wasnt a copy by any means.

I just think the WWII history is more interesting than the modern stuff. That's just a personal preference.
I did build a M1A2 recently and it was very fun. High quality kit!
