Hi Guys,
Here is one of my latest models. Pretty much straight out of the box except for an MV lens for the light.
Comments are welcome!
Cheers!

Richard,
You have a very natural and great talent for painting, really love the effect on the JSII, and the cast on the turret and hull. Good Work!

That looks mighty sharp! I like your use of weathering and staining.
I know next to nothing about Russian armor so I can't say much more.
What kit is it?

Very nicely done. I have a strange affinity for those old Soviet heavies.

Nice job for straight OOTB. I like the MV lense, they always add a bit more realism.
One point, the dust/dirt on the top of the turret and engine deck would probably collect on crevices and around raised detail instead of in the middle of panels unless the dust/dirt had just collected there and this may be what you are depicting.
As for the vertical surfaces, the dust/dirt would be washed down in vertical streaks like the rust that you have depicted.
Nice Job!
Andrew

Thanks for the kind words and comments ...This is the Dragon JsII ..I just wanted it to look battered up and dusty ...The camera seems to have made the dust show up more in the middle of the pannels, but really the contrast isn't has harsh as it seems...Again this was a fun project just to get me over my AMS(advanced modellers syndrome ) Where I would start a whole lot of projects but never finish them .

Yes this is the WWII version it was later changed to the M model that also saw action in WWII but was also exported to countries like China...I think my JSII was the first production type.

Excellent work - how did you achieve the "whitish" bits to your weathering?
I assume you would recommend this kit. Is this correct? Any major drawbacks.
Cheers

Fantastic paintwork. I really do love the weathering. Also nice sag and painting of the tracks. I have just completed a JS3 and am going to start a JS1 next. Hopefully IŽll get around to this next. I save your pics as a reference. What green did you use?

Hi guys .....I used tamiya's JN green over a black preshade..I then used tamiya buff added to the green to lighten the colour...adding more and more buff as I went along...I used an oil paint wash of black and burnt umber all over the kit ...and then put tiny drops of oil paints all over my kit and using a flat paintbrush wetted in thinner which I rub off most of the thinner on a rag and then drag the oil colours down toward the the ground .I wipe my brush often and repeat this till it looks good.As for the whitish colour on the weathering I used alot of different colour pastels from black for the exhausts, rust colours ..dark browns and yellow ochre for the dust..so I guess it might be the yellow ochre ...seems to show up lighter then it actually is ..probably the flash on the camera.
Richard
p.s. Fun kit to build just a bit tricky around the front of the turret I had to use alot of putty and rebuild the weld marks but other then that nothing that can,t be handled.

Richard,
Superb weathering on your beast. It reminds me of how our M1's looked after being out in the field. I find the dust/dirt in the middle of panels just as realistic as in the crevices. While in the field we would get the crap all over the tank, including the middle of panels. That is until our TC would make us sweep the tank with our little brooms! :-)
Thanks for showing us!
