How close, or how much work needs to be done to the M48A5 to convert it to an M60 (Slick 60)? For years I have wanted to build the mount my uncle was on in Germany ('61-'63). I believe I have read there is a conversion or resin turret to use with an A1, although I really am trying to avoid this route. I do have an AMT M60 Blazer lying around I could scavange parts from if need be.

First and foremost, you need to use the hull that comes with the AMT Blazer. It will need some minor backdating in some areas. There is another thread detailing these changes that just started this weekend.
You will need to use the early style air cleaners from the Blazer. The old Esci/AMT/Ertl/Italeri M60A1 and M60 Blazer came with proper early style air cleaners.
The tracks are another issue. Most photos of Slick 60s show the older style track included with the M48A5 kit (I am assuming you are using Academy kit #1355), but I do not know if they will fit the circumference of the Esci suspension. If they don't, then you will need to buy the AFV Club individual tracks made for the M48/M60/M88.
The M85 armed cupola from the Blazer kit will be needed as well.
The M48 turret would have to be reworked. I am not sure about all the ins and outs of the rework. I would recommend getting the CMD Slick 60 turret. It is rather nice.

Jeff,
what Robins says is right on spot. There really is no way converting an M48 into an M60. Your should really get a conversion turret (AEF or CMD comes to mind) and your M60A1 kit and go that way .... - Andreas -

I've looked for the thread with no luck. Any chance you can post a link?
