here it is assembled and painted in it's base coats of paint. A few touchups have to be done but otherwise it is finished ready for drybrushing, weathering and attaching to a base. This will be the first base I have done for a model and it will show the truck dumping a load of coral sand.

The firsr post on this is here...... https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/66813&page=1
and the second update here..... https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/67165&page=1

I will admit that in some of the photos it looks like the tipper body is out of alignment. It is a fraction as the chassis is twisted slightly. This will come out once it is fixed to the base.

All comments welcomed.

you can see the left front wheel is slightly off the ground due to the twist in the chassis. This has made the cab twist slightly to the right. I found it impossible to get this twist out due to the body being in the raised position.

I made up two seperate windscreen frames so I could have them open. I scraped the closed kit ones off.

I also opened the cowl vents and changed the shape of them to the Australian made GM body which has rectangular vents compared with the Canadian made body which has vents that are wider at the bottom.

A lot more photos of the build can be found here... http://photos.kitmaker.net/showgallery.php/cat/15741

Cheers

Amazing Cliff

Your eye for detail is as fantastic as your scratchbuilding skills.
Its great to see something really different from the usual being modelled.

Great work

Most impressive Mr Roo!!

Perhaps the base could have some groundowrk that lends itself to conceal the twist?
Uneven ground where needed perhaps? :-)

Mate those headlight lenses you sent me for Christmas are awesome and look real good. Thanks for the gift of them.

Carl still a lot of painting touchups to do and no gloss or matt coat have been used yet. This is only the bare base coat of green.

Thanks for the comments I appreciate them.

cheers

His work above speaks for itself, but these tweaks are further examples of what makes this man a premier softskin/scratch modeler.

I kneel.

Amazing work as always cliff,

You should look into producing masters for someone like Accurate Armour, I would certainly buy them

You should left it unpainted my friend - nobody can see now how big scratchbuilding work you've done.
Just kidding I can't wait how it will look finished and with groundwork.

Me too - your model strikes a particular character. Attractive and unusual. I like the open vents and other finer details that create a more candid presentation.

Can you apply gentle heat (via a hair dryer set on a low setting and a foot away from the model) to take out that chassis warpage? Probably not, but a thought. If not, you can pose it on an uneven earthen base - that would set it off anyway considering the subject matter.

Good show!

Gunnie I tryed to do that but no go. The twist is so minor it is easy to straighten with minimum pressure so I will pull it out once I attach it to the base. Mind you I could, as you suggest, mount it on uneven ground to hide the twist.

I intend on doing a small base using sand and have the truck dumping a load of sand as in the original picture but instead of having the driver in his seat I am going to adapt a British standing soldier by changing the head and hat and also removing the webbing from his body. As he is in tropical uniform of shorts and short sleeved shirt he should look the part.

I will go to the aquarium shop later this morning and buy a small bag of coral sand to use for the base.

Once again thanks for the comments

Cheers
