Dragon have released more details on their forthcoming M1 Abrams. Calvin has posted another tantalising page on the dragon web site (members section). The page offers a glimpse of what will be included in the new release. The rear access panels over the engine bay will be removable, like the real thing, to enable an engine to be dropped in, allowing dioramas involving its servicing or replacemant.
This is turning out to be the Mother of all Kits, where will the amount of detail end . I know i have been getting fustrated at the length of time it has taken between first hearing off this release and its sale to the public, with this amount of work going into the production i am prepared to wait. Some of you guys out their, in the know with Dragon, have previously advised me to be patient i can now see why.
Hers looking forward to the New Abrams.

That is VERY true - imagine my situation, when I was actually holding the (resin) mock-up of the turret in my shaky hands back in august... Now THAT is frustrating! Once again, although I know little about the Abrams, with this kit, I rather think i'll be learning considerably more!!!...Jim

I haven't read all the posts on this subject so I'll ask my question anyway. Is the non-slip on the new DML kit?
Cheers

So would alot of people, since this was going to be released in the fall, just after Thanksgiving, then early December, then just after Christmas, ect, ect.
Set a date and stick to it. I know its not national security or anything like that, but its unprofessional to keep putting the release back like this.

I just learned about this kit last month. wow, that long?
I just want it before I deploy since I know not being able to touch it for a year is going to be hell enough for me :-)

What I've heard with high detail kits like this, is that the company let's the moldmakers do whatever they do, and when they have a finished product, they send it to Dragon for review. If it has details that need to be revised, they send the molds back and they get retooled. The initial release date I would guess is when they expect to recieve the molds and be in production. Maybe the set back release dates are because they keep having to send back the molds for fit issues/detail problems.
Seems I may have a reason to invest in modern armor....
