the toy shop called Beatle (or some other name similar) near the Bargate.

Beatties went down the tubes a few years ago. I haven't been to Southampton for ages so I don't know whether it turned into a Toymaster or a Modelzone like some did or a wine bar . Still, you can always get a train to Hove and go to LSA Models.

Or stay on the train all the way to London Waterloo and do the South Bank cultural trail. IWM/Ian Allen/Tate Modern/Globe/HMS Belfast.... etc

If you go to the D-Day tapestry at Southsea (Churchill and Grizzly outside) there's always Sabre Supplies on the other side of the common if you want to wade in webbing (literally!)

Don't forget the National Army Museum in Chelsea either.

Hi Andy

Have a great time while you're over here and then during your European tour.

If you do get a chance to do some modelling, there is a pretty good shop in Southampton:

HobbyStores
61-63 Bernard Street
Southampton
SO14 3AB
UK
Tel: 0238 033 1859

They sell a decent range of kits and tools - so you needn't go entirely "cold turkey"!

All the best
