Hi everyone,

well, the END OF JOURNEY gets closer. Here a photo update of my scratch-built train coupé, attacked by planes. Many family donations have been thankfully accepted, so the ligth bulbs for the future ilumination of the shadow box (using an old christmas-tree-ilumination). The escaping panzer officer is from Academy´s tank crew. Hope You like it so far... (:-)

Only one thing I'm not yet comfortable about : the airplane picture. It doesn't feel like the view of an attacking airplane you'd see out of a train window.
I suggest you keep looking on the web or elsewhere for a better alternative. Maybe we all can try to help here...

would these Spitfires look better as seen from the train ? I specially like the second one. I don't think they need to come much closer to the train to be dangerous. Any closer than that would result in close encounters of the fourth kind, I'm affraid.

Both look very good Ralf, though is't hard to judge since the pictures are a bit too close-up I'm afraid. Maybe you can make some pics like the initial pics of this post...

I think the first one looks best, too. No. It looks SPLENDID.
MUCH better than the orgininal pic !

Your figure seems to understand what's happening. To be more realistic, I'd make him grip the doorway with at least one hand. I can't see myself dashing for the door like that without involving my hands. Once your figure's through that door, he'll smash into the far end of the train corridor. If he has to make a quick turn for the exit, I think he'll grab the doorway.
Just a thought...

Good observation. I´ll let him grab the door with his right hand. Concerning the background, I found some splendid air-raid-pics. So, there are some scenic works left to do this evening. I´ll keep You posted. Thanks again, guys!!!

One thing that could help: put some distance between the window and the aircraft picture. The more the better. I believe it´s possible to bend the picture so that it would cover the whole view out of window. I´m talking about a 180 degrees widescreen....

Nifty idea to make that an IMAX show through the window. Technically, the background doesn't even have to be a part of the picture, so you can really use it as a background without having to count it in your 4x6 inch restrictions... I think.

Uffff ... After surfing worldwide through air-shows, vintage-webs and war-grafic-pages I´ve got an image-overkill (see extract below). The best would be to present them in a kind of slide show. Or show step by step how planes aproach, get nearer and begin straffing the train. But that would exceed the 30 $ limit (lol). The one I like, is the one showing planes approaching through dark clouds (3rd one in the left column).

I like the top right picture a lot : it shows a bit of ground (view from the train perspective), the plane is at a right distance and you see what kind of business it has in mind. It doesn't approach the wagon of our friend here, but rather something else in the same general direction (the locomotive ? wagons with military freight ? )...
The surprise is bigger, too. Its a nice summer afternoon, this soldier leisurely sits reading a magazine, writing a letter or just dozes off in the sun falling through the window, and all of a sudden he's scared off by the explosion in the distance and decides to make a run for it...
Well, just my feelings here. Some of the other pics are real good, too. I'm glad to see that you don't stick to your first choice of picture.

so far this is the best picture I've found.

Somme editing in photo/paintshop should do the trick.

Very good job. I absolutely love the 'box'. Wonderful - I'll chime in on opinion (and it's only mine you do what you want to do.) I prefer either of the second row of pictures.
