They've just been released in Japan. If you go to this site you can see what you get in the box (I've already got two on order, but not from here).

A 48th Cromwell!! I think I may believe in the Plastic modelling God after all
I suppose a retool of the awful Bren Carrier tracks would be too much to ask? Pity as I brought one instead of the dozens I'd have done, all the conversion possibilities
Now a Churchill would be splendid....

Tamiya, it seems, has bcome a joke. They can't cut it in 35th so they move to 48th. I am sorry to all the Tamiya fans, but I wish they would move back to the real armor scale.

Well, as many will know, I am not exactly Tamiya-san's number one fan... That said, if they felt it made sense to go into 1/48th scale. that was their decision. Considering the popularity of 1/72nd and the increased interest in 48th, exactly what is the REAL scale for armor anyway?
To soften it a little, referring to 1/35th, i'll leave the name of a vehicle for you to ponder - CHAR B .. Nothing else for the moment...Jim

I always though 1/1 was the 'real' scale for armour :-)
Im quite impressed with the new 1/48 kits, although most of my stash and spares box is 1/35 i have limited storage space for finished models and even more limited time to build them. 1/48 is a good scale for me.
Im just waiting for the Skybow firefly!

The 'true scale' for armour is 1/300th - must be I've more of them than all the other scales put together

Jim for a split second, you had me worried. My fiance's name is Charlene and I thought you were sending me some kind of message.

The Cromwell and SU-122 are definetly on my list. As to the one true scale it must be 54mm (1:32) this is what Airfix etc started producing in and then Tamiya came along with 1:35 and we all now assume this is the 'right' scale for armour. Just seems to me the the Big T are doing the same again 30 odd years later. We will probably think 1:48 all natural in another 30 years.

Spoken like a true 1/35 scaler who is to arragant to try a new scale and feels intimidated by the fact that Tamiya has chosen to focus on a different market. I think we will see the Char in 1/48 and then maybe in 1/35 after the fact. I'm hoping for a S35 and R35 Please.

If it's in these books, I'd be interested - 1/35th or 1/48th

HI Dus
Parallel French and English text
Got the first three from Pol Models (cheaper than the other places I've seen them), next ones I might get from the publisher.

For those who think that 1/48 is not a legitamate scale for armour, I invite you to view some of Clanky44's work. It puts most 35th to shame at shows.

Mr McCune
What is it exactly that warrants that sort of reply?... Is it fear that this scale might be catching on?... Is it fear that modellers might be wary of grandiose releases in the 35th scale that are way too large in scope and complexity?... Is it ignorance?... I'll go out on a limb here, and assume that you've never tried one of the 48th scale armour releases.... Is it arrogance?... can anyone out there truly think that if it's not 35th scale it's of no use? If that is the case, maybe you should take a close look at what master modellers like Mr. Zaloga are doing in 72nd scale!
Do yourself a favour next time and think twice before putting up such a thoughless post
