Modern fan here. I like to model all my stuff after vehicles in my unit or vehicles I have been around. I aslo have 3 articles here on the sight, numerous reference photos( including US uniforms and vehicles), and model pictures in the gallery here.

VIPER,
About 2 or 3 years ago, there where M6 Linbackers stationed at Ft, Hood, Texas. So I do belive they are in service. I havnt got to play with one yet, but it will be soon. I just recently got to play in a M2A3 Bradley.

I like to model things I know about... and I was on M-60's and was around and saw M-48's and lots of other modern stuff... so I model almost exclusively modern armor... My current long term goal is to build all of the Patton series of tanks... and thier brothers, the Abrams, Leopard and Pershings...
See http://www.patton-mania.com for pictures of my stuff!
One big, happy family...

You view on modern armor is too narrow Vince. I agree that a lot of USA/German modern armor is done in NATO 3-color, but late 80s US MERDC and Gulf War sand are possibilities (sand for the novice) and the various schemes used by nations formerly aligned with the USSR.Same here, I too build mostly modern armour

Or try a new NATO members Soviet style vehicle in NATO 3-color.

Give me a couple of weeks and I'll be posting some photos of the Bulgarian BMP1s we have here. They have a completely different three-color pattern than I have ever seen. I'll also be posting some shots of the German Fuchs and Luchs AFVs used here. (Yes, they're in NATO tri-color, but still pretty neat...especially the Fuchs aromored ambulance.) I'm not in the same league as Sabot, but I have some pretty good shots in the gallery too, especially if you are working on a HMMWV.
Oh...and I am also a modern fan and builder.

I build anything but most of my Armor Kits are from Vietnam to Present Kits. Some of my older kits include the Academy Tiger with full interior. I have more Soft vehicles Like hummers, 5 tons, Duce and Halfs ect. But all of the kits that I have built as of now, that are armored vehicles include Tamaya M1a1, Challenger, IDF M60 Blazer, Mercava, M2 bradley.
I love the new stuff more, most shows that I have been to looked like Sherman/Tiger meets.

I have narrowed to modern armor, mainly vehicles I commanded or had in units I commanded: M60s, M113 FOV, M88, etc. Nothing like personal first hand references

I'm a modern armor fan too. Currently working on the M113 family and other related vehicles. My present goal is to model all of the Mech vehicles and support vehicles that I was associated with when stationed in Germany in the late 70's.

I must have overlooked this thread at X-mas. Hey ! I'm a big fan of modern US stuff.
It all started when I was in the army in 1986 in Germany. While on live fire exercise ourselves, we ran into what seemed the entire 2nd Armored Division who had finished a huge exercise and had gathered all their vehicles for cleaning, repair and returning their to their hidden depots in Germany. I still get excited when I think back to those days. That was the first time I saw a Humvee, an M54, M1's, M2's, and all that other hardware. Most were in brown/tan/black/green four colour MERDC pattern, others in black/reddish brown/green.
There was enough firepower gathered in a 10 by 10 km military compound to fight a full scale war !
