Does anyone know where the fuel caps are located on the ISU 152.

This site has some shots of the 152. You might find what you're looking for here: http://www.thetankmaster.com/tanks.asp

Thanks Robin. I took a look at those pics but there are plenty of caps and hatches. Still not sure which one of the many openings is the fuel hatch

I believe each gas tank {of the four on those tanks} had it's own cap for filling, top center of each one...had a hexigon cap with flange.

Now there's a difficult question - and I thought locating the fuel caps on the T-35 was tough...

This is guesswork, but if the box on the lefthand side of the ISU-152 interior here is a fuel tank

http://www.battlefield.ru/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=40&Itemid=50&lang=en

then the fitting in the corner of the roof in this shot may be one of the fuel caps

The IS-2 had fuel tanks in the nose with filler caps either side of the hull roof in front of the turret. The ISU allegedly had two tanks in the fighting compartment and one in the area of the engine.

Yup, the tank in the front left corner is a fuel tank. Here's a pic with it labeled. The Russian for #7 translates to fuel tank...

That's from this Russian page...

Check it out...there are more great interior drawings plus the neat one showing the crew locations and general layout...

In AFV Modeller issue 12, Ulf Andersson did a dio called Unno's Prey. It has a blown up ISU-152. In the magazine, it has a number of pictures showing the fuel tank with a big hole in the bottom. The article has great shots of the construction and completed model. It also has some photos of the interior of an ISU-152 and the blown up 152 used as a reference.

I found some pics on the web of Ulf's dio here...

...and here...

That last one shows the fuel tank...it's just to the right of the figure...

Take care.

Wow, learn something new every day...so "my" question would be, "what were the outside tanks{drums} for?"..extra fuel?

I know the tanks on the outside carried extra fuel. They are not conneted to the rest of the fuel system so the fuel needs to be drawn from those tanks.
