Hi
I have 2 questions about Armorama. First: why is saving photos disabled from the pop-up windows?
And how can you review which topics you subscribed?

(And a very last one, : what is a goup build? )
Thanks,
redneck

I don’t know anything about the first question but I may be able to help you out with the other 2.

When you subscribe to a topic your are sent an Email with a link to it every time someone pasts on it. I don’t know if theres a way to find a list of all your subscribed topics or not.

As for a group build its when a group of people all build the same type of model at the same time.
You can find a list of group builds under the campaign tab up by the top of the page.

It's a copyright protection issue.

Saving pictures isnt totally impossible from the site. Ya kinda have to do it a longer way. I would only do this for my personal use, so you can just highlight the picture, one at a time, copy them into Microsoft Powerpoint and then save them as a picture file from there.

It's a backdoor approach, so use it sparingly. And if you do follow this method, don't use the pictures for anything but personal use!

I suspected as much, but considering that these photos are mostly made by fans for fans, or are promotional, I don't see much of a real copyright issue (other, similar pages are seem to be cool with this as well... not mentioning that by simply by making a screenshot circumgoes the problem. It isn't a real RIAA issue, but quite annoying.) For me, I'd consider an honor if someone would find my builds worthy enough to download
And going by the same lines, downloading -and reading- of articles could be penalized as well. Printing a build article without photos ... kinda pointless, ain't it?

I'd somehow would like to retrieve the list of topics I have subscribed to. I remember a great one about painting realistic one-colored schemes on airplanes, but I can't find it- and if no one posts there so I can get an e-mail, I'm stuck.

Some of the manufactures, and suppliers of the review items request that their copyrights be protected. We are not going to help you violate their copyrights. If you wish to violate someones copyright, then be prepared to suffer the lawsuit. Really is pretty simple.
I'm sure if you need the build article photos, an email or PM to the writer, would get a positive answer, but that again is up to the author.

If you take the time to read the NEW copyrights law, you will see a new section on the old cop out of "Not for monetary gain" and the new fines imposed in this section. So feel free to back door your way to jail. Again pretty simple.

Along with the above mentioned copyright stuff, this stops people from posting the images on other sites from this site - which can be a big bandwidth drain.

Chill out, man... Someone got carried away.... You gave a nice speech and a very convincing threat. I salute you. If I'm going to jail because I saved Teacher's Flak photos (which, just like 99 percent of the publised photos here is NOT copyrighted), I'll suffer the consequences. Things got out of hand, didn't they, with these nice lawyers and their stupid ideas.
If I promise not to remember the photos, at least I can take a look at them, can't I?

Andras, at the bottom of every review or feature, you'll find this:

You may take it flippantly, many of us and the Manufacturers take Copyright protection very seriously indeed.

If you're looking for one of those sites where items and images are 'pirated' and posted without control, then perhaps Armorama is not the site for you. There are rules here. If you don't like them, the solution is obvious. Much of the 'net seems to consist of sites run by spaced-out teenagers. This, Andras, is a PROFESSIONAL Miltary Modelling site, not some kind of 'Anarchist Collective'....Jim

Whether a photo taken by me that appears on this site has copywrite marked on it or not they are still my copywrite as I took the photo. I do not mind sharing and other folk using them for their own personal use but not for adding to other sites without my permission.

So just because the photos here on site are not marked as copywrite does not mean that they are not! So I think your 99% of published photos should read a lot less.

Cheers

"flippantly" - I like the word...

Yeah, my bad. I answered without checking out the facts first. (For most of the stuff, you do have to register to have copyright. For photos you don't. Never thought I have a copyright on my stuff...)
about the "PROFESSIONAL"-thing... You really do want to think about labelling. IPMS, PlanetArmor, etc are hardly run by teenagers, breaking the law and smoking pot in the meantime. (They might even download porn, but I'm really not sure.) Yet, surprisingly, they do have something called a "fair use" (http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl102.html) in their terms and conditions. I don't think they're less devoted to copyright laws. I don't think you become a con if you download a photo for further reference. So you might be right. I really don't need to read pages where I'm intimidated, threatened with jail and lectured like a primary-school student.
