This is very exciting for 48th armour. That said, I do have to express just a little disappointment with Tamiya's choice of hull for their Firefly. It would have been really nice to see a hybrid hull. Maybe Dragon came venture down that lane!

I have to agree with Steve about the Firefly, and unless they ditch those metal hulls I will be looking to Hobby Boss for KVs

The hybrid hull would be nice, but of equal importance would be the need to release additional track types. The T54E1 or T49 would both be an improvement.

New tamiya kits have lost my interest, ALOT. I have basically stopped buying thier stuff. Its either a re-hash of the bigger kits or same plane with different markings. Not much different parts added to make them completely different.

The KVs make me a little worried. They'll have to be completely NEW to capture my credit card's attention.
With the KVs coming out from Hobby Boss, Tamiya would be well advised to be very careful indeed...Jim

I completely agree, now that Tamiya has some competition, they have to step up their efforts. Tamiya will no doubt be more expensive, even though the Hobby Boss planned release will have a full interior. I'll continue to buy Tamiya, simply for the ease of construction. (hopefully it's not based on the old 35th scale KV-1)

Hello Frank
while I agree that some competiton is good I have to comment on your statement.
AFAIK only the T-34 have the extensive interior (the Shermans had far less ... I was told) .... FWIW
I have only seen the T-34/76 mod. 43 and that one is really nice.
cheers

Still nothing modern... And this means that they still haven't done anything to make me interested in 1/48 vehicles...
Of course I know that there are some crappy 1/48 modern tank kits available from Academy and Czech resin Humvee kit, but I'm not going to build any 1/48 vehicle kits until I get good quality plastic kit of modern subject made to todays standards. Tamiya, Skybow, Trumpeter, are you listening?...

They almost managed to make an all new T-34, but repeated the idler mistake from the old motorised 1/35
We'll find out here soon enough.

It makes me happy to see so many kits starting to be released in 1/48th scale. Apparently there is a call for this scale and it looks like it will be sticking around Cheers Kevin
