Dear All
Thanks again for the pictures and special thanks to Frenchy for the stimulating discution en photos
Now i have some questions it seems that 2 differents engines have been used for the M113A1:
1- The 215HP Chrysler 75M Diesel type
2- Detroir Diesel 6V53
The 2 photos below are very different or the one from below is the same that the upper only housing parts change the shape.
That is my question Tamiya engine is more like Detroit Diesel 6V53 than the 215HP Chrysler 75M, Am i right ?
According to the photo i found and by comparing to the one that Frenchy send me (see below for an examples)
Detroit Diesel 6V53 :
215HP Chrysler 75M
Thanks for your help
Seb.

IIRC the Tamiya M113 is a petrol-engined version and the Academy M113A1 Vietnam retains the engine of their M113A2.

Ok David
It seems that the engine in Tamiya kit is the original 209 Hp Chrysler Model 75M gasoline engine (1st Photo) for M113 but i want to do a more accurate M113A1 i need the Detroit Diesel 6V53 (2nd photos).
therefore the engine in the Academy kit should be accurate ?
Cheers

Hi Seb
I'm quite sure that the bottom picture in your post (the one from PMMS) shows a 6V53 engine. AFAIK, Australians have only diesel-powered M113s....But I'm not so sure for the top picture. Maybe you're right.
PS : the bottom picture in Graeme's post shows a M113A2, not a A1

Sebastian,
I have (I think) all the Academy parts you require including the hatch mounted radiator and air filter etc. The only thing is they're partly assembled. I was going to build up an opened M113 but changed my mind. I've also got a spare instruction sheet if you think it'll come in handy.
PM me your details and I'll send them to you.
