I am looking for on line references of Bristish Shermans used in North Afrika. Also what types of Shermans were used in North Afrika and is there a kit of one available?
thanks in advance.

I'm not sure of online resources of African Shermans. Steve Zaloga had a good article in a Military Modelling (UK) a couple of years ago.
The Brits had three types in N Africa.
Sherman II (M4A1, 75mm , both the direct vision type (Formations resin hull) and standard hull (DML kit or Formations resin kit)
Sherman I (M4) modify a Tamiya M4 early kit
Sherman III (M4A2). Formations, Toro, Legend, CMD make resin kits. DML is to release one but I'm not sure if it's suitable for a UK tank.
Here's a good build log by James Wechler on his Sherman III

The British used the M4 and M4A1 Shermans armed with the original 75mm gun and low bustle turret. Dragon does an M4A1(75) early and Tamiya does an intermediate M4(75) that could be worked into a proper North African variant. Here is a site that will help you make a British M4A1 (about half way down the page): http://www.usarmymodels.com/MANUFACTURERS/DML/dml6048.html
This link will direct you to the Tamiya M4 tweaks: http://www.usarmymodels.com/MANUFACTURERS/Tamiya/tamiya35190.html

Guys, I keep hearing that the Brits used M4 in NA but5 I have yet to see any evidence. I believe they may have used them in Tunisia but definately not in the Desert Battles. The M4A1 with direct vision and the M4A2 with direct vision hoods, cast hoods and welded hoods were used.
The M4A1 had M3 bogies and the M4A2's had both.
If anyone has a pic of a Brit M4 in NA I would be interested. The ones in Osprey Vanguard 15 : Brit Sherman are incorrect captions. I have found pics of M4 in Italy but as yet I can't find any in NA. The Yanks used them though in both dv and cast hood hull variants.
Cheers
